Painting LP tanks

I am considering painting my LP tanks a teal blue to complement my awning color. The silver / aluminum paint oxidizes badly each year requiring repainting.

Are there any negatives to painting tanks something other than silver, white, or tan?

Also, any pictures from others who have painted their tanks "interesting" colors would be nice to see.

Craig Dorsey painted the tanks a unique color on this restoration.

Darker colors would tend to cause the tanks to heat when exposed to bright sun, which could cause them to vent and pose a risk of fire.

Just sandblast, prime, and paint.

Why not use a lacquer and basecoat? A good, durable finish, and no oxidation if you wax them once a year or so.

Stay away from darker colors... Especially in hot areas

While darker colors are an issue in direct sunlight, the biggest issue arises when it is time for intermediate certification of the tanks. Re-painted tanks hide defects that might be discovered otherwise. Other than having to sandblast and repaint at certification time, and the resistance of suppliers to accept teal tanks for exchange (the most common method of avoiding certification issues is to make them someone else's problem), go for it.

I painted the tanks on my Boles Aero a royal blue when the OPD valves first were introduced/required. No problems thus far with over heating and/or venting in temps of 100 plus.
