LP Tanks (Refilling)

Is best to leave the tanks on the airstream when we fill them? Or is it best to take them off the airstream and have them filled?

With exception of our local U-Haul that refills LP, most service stations would give me major approach problems to bring my TV & Safari up to the LP tank. You'd still have to remove the house tubing from the top of the OPD connection on an empty tank -- only a minor PITA. It really depends on what you know locally -- and it's easier bringing a single tank into town if I don't know my situation.

I take them off. I have to disconnect them anyway to have them filled. I have a local Ace Hardware that refills my gas grill tanks as well. If I time it right I have a monthly propane delivery for the house that will fill these tanks also.

Off. It would be difficult to get them filled as they sit on a newer Airstream.

In NM, fillers are supposed to fill by weight using a scale unless it is otherwise necessary to fill by volume using the bleed valve. Necessity, in my book, doesn't include a customer who doesn't want to remove the bottles from the rig!

Anyway, I would just as soon not fill a bottle right on the rig. The chances of accidental spark just increases with having uncontrolled equipment around, a particular danger when filling by volume.
