LP Gas prices

Since we have been fixing everyone's furnace woes (hopefully), what are we all paying for LP for our coaches around the country? I paid $3.49 a gallon today. That seems outreageous to me. Have I just had my head in the sand with respect to fuel in general or was I hosed?

I have been eeking out 15+ mpg with my Excursion, not towing of course.

I must have gone brain dead on how many gallons in a 30 pound bottle. I seem to think it is 6.5-7.0? Anyway, last winter in south texas i paid $10.75 for a 30 pound bottle.(usually 28#) It was $15.50 here in Tenn. last fall before I left for Texas.

Haven't checked lately.

$20.00 for a 30# tank here in the DFW area. It just went up $2.00 last week. Unfortunatly it was only $16.00 at the last park we were in and now it is $20. Ouch

I just filled a 30# bottle for $25 at a RV park here in Austin, but I had a half-price coupon so I got by for $12.50.

I feel your pain! The cost of propane has gone up to $2.39gal around here.
I need to figure out who is getting rich on the rise in petroleum products.
It's driving me crazy.
Jobs and the economy are about to take a very big nose dive due to increased costs of petroleum products.
Farming and transportation are in big trouble.

Sounds like I am carrying the banner so far for high prices. I was forced to purchase the propane from a U-Haul dealer. Maybe, therein lies the rub. All the RV dealers are inconveniently located for me and my current schedule. Guess I best become creative. Perhaps conversion to biodiesel and change to a steady diet of french fries.

Best place to fill your propane tanks is at a Flying J truckstop. They charge by the gallon, and most are less than $2 right now. Most propane distributors have tiered pricing, and priceing is different for bottle fills vs home tank fills, which have wacky pricing also.http://www.flyingj.com

Update: I just found an RV dealership in Chippewa Falls, WI where I paid $2.00 per gallon. They also had RV antifreeze cheaper than Farm and Fleet. I think they earned some of my business although they said they would prefer not to work on an Airstream.

Stay away from U-Haul !

I just called my local U-Haul in Richmond VA (zip 23221) They are selling LP for $4.00 (yes FOUR $) per gallon. I will search tomorrow before I fill our two tanks. I will post the results...

lp price

I just had a 30# tank filled and it cost $10.15 here in Tucson, AZ, the counter on the pump said "4" so I am assuming 4 gallons. (?)

Last I saw LP was....

Hi all -

Can't help with the current cost of LP on the trailer as she has been sitting since late July - BOOOO!!!!!!!! Just too busy with life at the moment.

Last we had the house tank filled ( 8 weeks ago - right BEFORE the huge hike and hurricanes) we paid about $1.85 - delivered to the house. Sure it ain't that price now!

Heck, can't hardly afford to BBQ anymore!?!? NOOoooo!!!! Guess I might have to convert to those little green bottles that I bought a zillions of for the TrailerBQ.... Hm, even with the fittings I might come out ahead!

I'll report back - might even cut some of you deals on the 'little green cylinders' if things get really out of hand with prices.

Since I have a hot air balloon, I work with propane and the cost there of all the time. The cost of propane depends a bunch on the amount used. In the summer, I used about 150-180 gallons a weekend. Because I use this amount. I get it for about $1.50-1.75 a gallon or close to what is called the "head price" (off the railroad car). Your dealers are no different. If your retailer sells a bunch of propane, they will get a much better deal, passing the savings on to you. I have seen the local price vary as much as a 1.50 or more per-gallon from one gas station to the other. This is the very reason why Flying-J's can sell at the price they do. I would suggest, finding the guy in your town that spends all day Sat/Sun filling tanks for you gas grills, he'll have the best price! A friend of mine will pump over 800 gallons in a weekend for people will gas grill's, he always has the best price.
