I like that you painted them. And the trailer. Bare metal is boring all the time. And waay too much time to polish. Carry on!!

Is it Evil to Paint Aluminum Tanks ?

Of course it's evil to paint aluminum tanks. It's also illegal in 37 states... The bare aluminum police will write you a ticket for the first offense. Last year alone, over 187 Airstream owners were jailed and fined heavily for painting their aluminum tanks. President Obama weighed in on the issue, saying, "I have a phone and a pen, and we will make this federal law! The desecration of the sacred aluminum must be stopped!" I never realized just how great of a president he is...

-Red, going just a bit over the top... A bit.

Your right Protag I googled it. Cylinder from now on, unless they look at me weird.

Man, you are right. I spent way too many hours polishing my trailer and it needs it again.

I am going to put a little more paint on the trailer to reduce the shiny area even more, and then I will repolish.

And besides, truth be told, my trailer is too beat up to truly be a shiner.

I don't only love the cylinders, I love the trim on the Airstream as well. Absolutely beautiful!

When you all wind up in aluminum jail, don't run crying to me...

-Red, ratting you out to the authorities...

And even beside all that, the paint I applied illegally over the tanks has been declared illegal expostfacto by executive order 152846. I am required by law to remove the paint from the tanks without breaking the surface of the paint film, or face a 25 year sentence.

Of course I may keep the paint and avoid prison if I make a substantial donation to the DNC.

You'll probably need an asbestos abatement team if you don't have the MSDS of the paint to prove it doesn't contain asbestos... See what you've done here?

Having dealt with asbestos and lead abatement in my career, I'm beginning to regret that AirForums doesn't have a "cringing" emoticon for reacting to humor like this. Had you said "lead" rather than "asbestos" it would have sounded exactly like a real EPA ruling!

Well... well, well.. you will know WHICH are yours at the LP station!!!

Did you also paint under the base of the CYLINDER?

I hope the paint isn't flammable (or is that inflammable)...

How will you deal with keeping them shiny when road grimed? Inquiring minds...

Paint good, shiny better but mire work. You choose. I think front frame, rear bumper, cylinders, wheels all painted the same look good on older trailers, not so on new ones. Peace, jim
