Thanks for the tip. We have only filled a few times and until the TSC experience were always charged for 30 # no matter how much was left in the bottle. Aggravating!

Over an hour drive to Costco from home. Locally I take my cylinders to True Value Hardware or the local garage for filling and pay by the gallon, anywhere from $2.90-$3.05 per gallon.

Costco - By Far the Cheapest
At Costco, we can basically fill two 40# tanks for the price of one most everywhere else. I've been told by their people that they sell it as a loss leader as a way to get people in the store (as if they need help doing that). The thing with Costco is that only some of their stores sell it so if you are on the move most of the time like we are, you need to look up the store location on-line ahead of time to see if they sell propane before you go.
P.S. Costco parking lots, while not advertised as such, make great boondocking locations as well.

I know i am paying top dollar at the local true value but they are convenient, i have save on the fuel i dont burn driveing to costco and i am supporting a local small owner operated store. If we don’t support the local merchants amazon is going to be the only one left in business.

I needed Propane today in Marietta, OH. Paid $2.79 at Tractor Supply. First tank took 6.1 gal to fill and the second 3.5 gal (not empty tank).

One gallon of liquefied propane contains more or less energy depending on its temperature. Propane does expand quite a bit as it warms. One pound of propane always contains the same amount of energy.

Our local farm store (Southern States Co-op) sells propane by the Gallon $2.34. Usually about 50¢ cheaper than Tractor Supply.

Cazual6,
I have unlimited financial resources. I got to this point by saving and making wise financial decisions.... Like not spending more than I have to on trivial things like propane fill ups!

Hot Deal - Propane - Tractor Supply
Which is no doubt how you got into a decent financial position, and will likely stay in that position for a long time. No reason not to be frugal.
DW and I have a similar attitude and it keeps us comfortable...
