horizontal butane tanks

I have one tank leaking. Took it to a butane dealer to see if it could be repaired. I was told that it was illegal and couldn't be repaired. Let me hear something about this situation. My unit is a 1994 limited airstream with tanks that lie down and go under the sofa in the front, Do I have to buy new tanks,

It "IS" illegal to repair any LPG tank.

Always has, always will.

To fix them, would require welding, which has an open flame.

That, in it's self, will cause a pretty good explosion.

I don't want to be around when an LPG tank explodes.

They are EPA exempt because they cannot be made for OPD conversion.
If you go to the EPA guidelines in OPD requirements look for exempt tanks.
Horizontal tanks are not required because
Of the design. Your propane or Butane guy doesn't know the rules. I still have my
Original valves and have them filled at the local RV dealer. When you find the exemption, make a copy and show everyone that gives lip about filling it or repairing it.
