Question gas regulator installation help

I have a 98 Airstream Excella with original Fisher gas regulator (Dual stage and automatic changeover). As a replacement, bought a Cavagna at Airstream dealer and told this would work. Does not fit. As the gas lines exit each side of the Cavagna they push against each gas tank and will not allow placement of tanks. The attachment bracket appears to be too far forward for this regulator. The gas line from the trailer entering the bottom of the regulator is routed through a hole just in front of the attachment bracket and its movement is limited. What to do? HELP!
