furnace fix

1973 Suburban NT 32 furnace. Had trouble with it when I purchased the AS last year. Pilot would not light or stay lit if it did. With the cap, off to light manualy the pilot flame would violently blow itself out when ignited. Pulled the furnace and took it to an RV service repair. They cleaned it and blew out all of the dirt and bugs, tested it on the bench and found no problems. Put it back in the AS , hooked up gas, thermosat and DC . Pow same problem. No pilot and big blow out as soon as the gas ignites , even with the cap in place. Any ideas as to what to look for ? The igniter is working and the vent on the outside is clear.

Have you checked the gas pressure?

Adjust pilot flame lower

We had a similar problem with our NT20 last winter. The manual said that might happen if the pilot flame is adjusted too high (backwards to what I had thought). Anyhow, turned down the gas to the pilot and it worked.
