Fridge won't ignite on LP
Thanks all in advance. Pulled into Craters of the Moon Idaho last night. No hook ups as expected. Turned on battery power and LP. Hot water heater came on fine. Made tea on stove fine. Sounded like fridge burner came on but did not. Cycled it 4x on auto and just LP. Igniter clicked but would not fire up. Fridge blinked between temp and LP. Went for hike and repeated later. My thought is the selinoid that activates the gas valve is toast ? Headed to Elko NV now so will check responses later. Any help appreciated. Jim Hays aka herkvet

Do you want a referral to someone in Twin Falls that works on RV systems that may be able to diagnose/repair? If so I can get contact info for you.

Try this
I typically ignite a stove burner for a minute or so to ensure LP is running in the lines. Then try fridge again.

One good option is to have someone else switch it to gas mode while you are outside watching, shade the burner area so that you can see if it is either not sparking, or that it is igniting and then going out.
Doesn't spark, igniter/grounding problem
Sparks but doesn't light, solenoid valve or other gas flow issue
Lights but goes out, flame sense isn't working (take burner apart and use some emery cloth to clean the metal rod that protrudes for the flame sense)

THE time it happened to us we'd just been over rough roads. I opened the housing and could see that the igniter had just "fallen" a little of our alignment. It sparked but wasn't close enough to the gas. I loosened a small phillips screw head, moved the igniter, and BINGO. Re-tightened the screw as we were good to go for years afterward. Worth a try.

Fridge won't ignite on LP
If all else fails Open refrigerator access door on the outside of trailer remove pilot cover (two sheet metal screws as I recall) have lighter ready as your helper inside the trailer pushes LP button on the refrigerator. When you hear the clicking of auto light use your lighter to light pilot.Replace cover enjoy a working refrigerator. Our problem was the circuit board.I ordered a Dinosaur board as it better design and proven to last.About $115 The oem factory boards have proven unreliable

One thing I always do when switching from electric to gas is set the thermostat of the fridge to "cold", or a high cold setting. The control has to see a demand for cooling. If your fridge was already cold for some reason, the controls won't call for the burner to light.
Just one more thing to try...

When we have had problems with the fridge lighting, it is usually due to wind or wet.
Once when wet was the issue, I lit with a lighter, and after that (may have dried things out) it worked well. But as someone posted, it is a two person task. I did it by myself (turned on the fridge and then ran outside to light) and it was a little more exciting than I prefer.
