Fresh Water Tank

I'm almost sure I was told by my Airsteam dealer that the fresh water tank would fill up once connected to water from a campground. Then, I could leave the water in the tank and or drain it via the value between the wheels. For some reason, the fresh water tank is not filling now. The light on the control panel in the kitch area blinks red. And I've opened the outside value but there is no water to drain. I'm pretty sure the friesh water tank is empty.

Any suggestions on what I've done wrong or why the tank may no longer be filling with fresh water? Is it okay if the tank doesn't fill when hooked to campground water? I'm not having any issues with water in the trailer. Sinks and shower all seem fine to me.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Fresh water tank does not fill from the fresh water hose connection at the rear of the trailer. That is for use at campgrounds etc. The water tank is filled up by using the fill opening located mid way along the trailer usually on the curb side over the tank drain between the wheels. Anyway this is the way it works on my 1985 AS.

I hope this helps you.

I do not think you have done anything wrong. I believe that the dealer did not know what they were talking about. I have always had to fill my tank at the fill port. I have never had any water go into the water tank when attached to shore water by hose. Question, why would there be a need to have water in the tank when your trailer is hooked to a water spigot?

yeah, unless they put a new feature, it's not going to happen. I did see a mod on a friends airstream where he could turn a valve and it would fill the freshwater tank while hooked up, and I thought about doing that on mine, but I was concerned it would just waste water, and be a possible source of contamination in the long run.

Maybe 1 out of 15.

Towing an Airstream, maybe 1 out of 25 to 30.

Yet, those same sales people, tell their customers what rating hitch to use.
