Conflict between OPD Valve & "Fuel Gauge" ?

Our 1990 Airstream trailer is equipped with 30 Lbs Worthington Aluminum Propane Cylinders.
Our local propane supplier may have never seen an aluminium propane cylinder besides ours, even less those gizmos called "fuel guages" (?)
He is ready to install the OPD valves we supplied, but having no idea about the mechanical nature of these "Fuel Gauges", he is concerned about doing harm to them.

He wants us to advise him to any special care that needs to be exercised to avoid damage to any part of the device that might extend into the cylinder?

As we don't know ourselves, we thought we asked you. (we have emailed Worthington, but......)

So, in summary: Help !!!!

Thank you.
