70's Options for Propane Tanks

Did different 70s models come with different size tanks as standard? Were there options for different size tanks at purchase?

I'm selling my Sovereign (40# tanks) and thinking about swapping tanks with my Tradewind (30# tanks) So I can have a little more capacity. Not that I really need it 2 30's are more than adequate.

Would someone buying a Sovereign expect 40 pounders?

MY 76 Sovereign has 30# aluminum tanks. I was told they were original, but don't know for sure.

The 40's were an option in the seventies, my manual identifies them as an option on the International Sovergn package.

About the only justification I can come up with for 40 pounders is a long, long trip to some chilly country away from propane stations. Maybe when I retire they would come in useful on the Al-Can.

30# was almost universal, the 40's were one small step away from "park it and leave it for the winter" size. We have 30's on our Sovereign, and see no real need for the larger tanks. For one thing, they are heavy as hell to move around when full.

My '77 Excella 500 had original 40 lb. aluminum tanks and they sure were nice to have. The aluminum made it a little easier to tote around even when they were full.
