in 30 years of 'streamin i've never run OUT of lp completely,

but i'm sure willing to learn HOW to do this.

with the newer tanks and streams we've got 2 gauges (tank and wall)

and green yellow red lights FLASHING over the galley to signal the lp supply.

so one REALLY needs to work at it to run totally OUT of lp...

i suspect that underlying this for MANY owners is the vague fear of dealing with the propane tanks...

that whole worry/fear thing about leaks and Xplosions and so on...

may lead to AVOIDANCE as a tool for dealing with lp.

so one way to overcome this is to fiddle with the tanks MORE often, get familiar with the system and use this stuff.

learn about the smells, HOW the opd valves work, carry a spray bottle of soapy water and so on...

this includes learning about WHERE to purchase the least expensive fills and sorting out the gallons vs pounds thing...

in short LEARN MORE ABOUT PASSING GAS...

cheers

1. turn off furnace
2. turn off water heater
3. disconnect tank and fill them
4. reconnect tanks, turn on stove to purge air, light stove, turn off stove
5. done

yes some answers tend to be a little overly zealous

2air I believe the International does not come with float gauges and remote metering the way the classic does.

I have a wet leg on the 500 gallon tank at home and can do my own filling.

But, on the road, my strategy is to patronize those establishments that will fill the tanks without me having to handle them.
