We are here at Chula Vista RV and the weather has been very nice. Expecting rain sometime tonight and Monday, then sunny and nice again. Looks like there are still a bunch of spots available. Stop by and say hi, we are in site 53 with a bay view, just look for the flag pole and a couple of pink flamingos hiding under the bushes.

Hi Damon,
Just found this thread. When I try to download the IBT Agenda on this page: http://wbcci.org/club-information/ibt, I get the following error message: "Unauthorized access to downloads!"

Sorry Joe, I don't know why you would get that error message. But I will email you a copy of the agenda. But please try the link again and let me know.

Damon, Thanks for emailing the IBT Agenda .pdf file to me. That worked!

And just in case it helps figure out what is going on on the web site, I got the "Unauthorized access to downlads!" error message using Internet Explorer 7.0 on an old Windows XP computer.

Today I tried to download the file using FireFox 17.0.1 on the same computer and instead was taken to a "Login (Administrators Only at this time)" page. Weird.

For what its worth, I just tried it from my house and it opened fine. And I didn't upload that myself. I'll check the error logs but there are no permissions set for those downloads so they should just download and open for everybody.

Looking at the download itself, it has been downloaded over 100 times so far. If anybody else has a problem, let us know when it happened so we can check error logs for any problems.

No problems accessing the download from here now, either. Win7, IE9.

If any president didn't get a copy from HQ they need to contact them and make sure they have the correct email on file for you. The email come from HQ directly and not from the ECC, we just post them on the website.

But please note: we do plan on one day having the ability for members to update their profiles on the website, without have to email or call HQ.

Mona,

You are not the only one who did not receive the agenda, the presidents of El Camino Real and Central California Coast did not receive it either.

Possibly some Blue Book wonk on the forums can tell us if unit presidents are even supposed to receive advance copes of the IBT agenda. I don't remember being sent one by WBCCI when I was unit president. For some years now the agendas have been posted on the WBCCI web site and I have always downloaded them for my own curiosity.

Basically, IBT meetings are the exclusive purview of the IBT. The only influence that units and members have on their deliberations is the advice they give to their Region presidents, who, of course, sit on the IBT.

The IBT can modify the Bylaws and Policies of the WBCCI all by themselves. If they want to amend the Constitution, they have to submit a motion to the Delegates Meeting, and unit presidents do statutorily receive a copy of that, on April 1, if I remember correctly.

Incidentally, that was a parliamentary defect in the motion which is the subject of this thread. The IBT acts through the Bylaws and Policies of the WBCCI and the motion did not set forth amendments to the Bylaws or Policies necessary to implement it. Since the maker has decided to withdraw the motion, this is of no consequence.

Mona,

Thanks, another item to add to "need for transparency" list.

Well, in fairness to WBCCI. . . they did put it on their web site for anybody who wanted to look at it. How much more "transparent" can you get?

I agree, on the website is a step in the disclosure direction, but not every member follows the website and looks for items. The club does use Constant Contact and at one time sent monthly emails to the membership. That would work for distributing the agenda or at least the notice that the agenda is available.

If the officers want the membership to participate, let them know what is happening.

That's a great idea. I haven't seen any of the Constant Contact emails from WBCCI HQ lately, but you're right, they could be used to notify members of the availability of things like IBT agendas, Delegates Meeting motions, etc.

Very few members are interested in such things, but it might help promote a feeling of inclusion, and those who are interested won't be able to complain they have been kept in the dark (as they often have in the past.)

I think it would be more correct to say the club HAS constant Contact.

I believe it is hardly used at all and it would be a good tool to keep members informed

Constant Contact

The original contract with Constant Contact was established by Fred Richardson, chairman of the marketing committee to allow his distribution of the online Blue Beret. The EC7 and the IP control who is allowed to use it for what purpose. As a member of the ECC, I have long proposed its broader use. So far, we are allowed to distribute our "News and Views" electronic newsletter.

"News and Views" Monthly Club Emails

The January issue of "News and Views" has been submitted to HQ for approval. It should be sent to all WBCCI members with email addresses next week and will include a link to a new ECC website and the IBT agenda 2013. As has already been mentioned, that agenda has been posted on the website under "Club Information."

As Dwight said, the EC decided that Constant Contact use would only be authorized for distributing News and Views and the Blue Beret.

Incidentally, about 10% of our email list's addresses bounce back because of incorrect/old addresses or opt-outs by members. Still, the publications are read by about 2500 members. Our plan is to continue sending "News and Views" to members approximately every month. Suggestions for news or articles are always welcomed by the ECC. ecc@wbcci.net
