Why do you stay a WBCCI member?

In another thread someone (Roscinante) asked the following question:

"What is it that keeps them renewing their membership and what is the value (other than pretty red numbers) of being a WBCCI member?"

I ask that only "WBCCI" members respond to this question. So, here it is again.

"What is it that keeps them renewing their membership and what is the value (other than pretty red numbers) of being a WBCCI member?"

Our group is getting pretty elderly. I do the web sites and have run a few of the events.

I stay because there doesn't seem to be anyone willing and able to take these things over and I like the folks in the group. I guess I do it for them.

There are some younger folks that join from time to time but usually are family people who are working and just can't take the time to do all these things. The other problem is that there aren't many family activities provided.

The history, continuity, and roots of the club. We are not big participators, but want to remain members.

Actually, I guess part of it is that I don't want to remove the numbers and leave phantoms. Also, it was my dad's number.

History has some to do with it. My parent's joined when I was 12.

We do enjoy the people in our unit (San Joaquin in Region 12).

Thumbs up why do you stay in WBCCI

We stay because of great rallies, and wonderful friends that have been made.

I make use of the local, region, and national events. I have not done any national caravans yet but would like to when I get more spare time away from responsibilities around Northern IL. The BB has possibilities with a little more effort from headquarters and the members. I have not made use of the free courtesy parking or the club discount at some campsites. I have developed some good friendships over the 12 years we have been in the club.

Our sentiments, exactly. Maybe someday, we'll change from MAL, join a unit, and find a great set of friends there too.

What moosetags and maxandgeorgia said goes for us. We also happen to have a good local unit, otherwise we would be MAL since the region and international rallies aren't a big draw for us.

Lots of reasons

I joined and stay a member for many reasons:

1. I love Airstreams

2. I have met and continue to meet a bunch of great people in the club.

3. At rallies, I feel my five year old daughter is in a save place.

4. My daughter has met and made friends with a bunch of kids she looks forward to seeing at rallies.

5. History

6. Good place to learn about my trailers

7. Love to use my Airstream with other people that have the same interest.

8. The rallies are at places where I would go too.

9. Love a good "Happy Hour"

10. Hope it will help keep me young as I get older, I'm 43 now.

Thumbs up The Members!

WBCCI is going through some internal problems which some members are totally aware of, some somewhat aware of, and others uninformed; what ever it is you get out of WBCCI you put into it like anything else in life. Why do we stay? We love Airstreams. We love going to an event that surrounds you with Airstreams. We love the friends we have made. We still believe in Wally's dream. We are members of the New England Unit, the best unit ever! We love the red numbers. As long as there is a WBCCI we will stay. If they change to the name to include RV we may have to draw the line. Airstreams do NOT fall into the RV catagory!

I became a WBCCI member after a VAC Rally that I attended a few years ago in Colorado Springs. I have renewed only to keep my VAC membership current as well. My trailer will not sport red numbers, ever.
Other than the Colorado Springs Vintage Rally, I have never attended a WBCCI event. Those times that my wife and I do socialize with other Airstreamer, it has always been forum rallies.
I honestly do not know why I keep renewing, since neither I nor my wife have great interest in WBCCI. It must be the grand memories of the Rocky Montain Vintage Rally that makes me want to continue on with tis membership.

Why Are We Members?

We have a deep appreciation for Wally, caravans, rallies and units even though we never met Wally and have not participated in any of those activitities and organizations. We BELIEVE. It's similar to religion - you either believe or you don't.

The value of WBCCI stems from an intangible feeling of belonging, heritage and comraderie. The value is not something that has a currency associated with it. I have known many WBCCI members over the years and have heard second hand about many of the events. My parents were members and we are continuing their membership number. At this point in our lives we are MALs but that status will likely change in the future.

I do think many things about WBCCI need to change with the times and I hope they will change sooner than later. For now we will continue to believe and to remain members.

Thumbs up The great members

We love being members of WBCCI the NEW ENGLAND UNIT! The people are wonderful & family to us. You all have described in a nutshell how we feel about being members. It's TERRIFIC.........

The best part is when you take your unit on the road, and you see other ASer's and you honk & wave, and you wonder what rally you are missing as they pass by.

I guess I joined because I bought an airstream - in 2003. I re-enlisted thinking I might want to take advantage of some of the campgrounds - like Top of GA (but I haven't gotten there yet). Also, I kind of liked the idea of being in the book as well as being able to look others up.

However, I've not been very good at getting in the book, and though I camp a lot, I don't seem inclined to be a rallyer.

I'm probably not going to re-enlist next year. I feel that I am getting enough of the benefits of membership through this forum, if I may say so. And thank you for that, all.

Thumbs up the members

We love the members.

We love the members that we have yet to meet down the road or at the next rally.

Love to spend time with others that share our interest in Airstreams espically vintage.

We like to ask others how they solved a problem.

Like to hear about trips to far away places that we don't have to time to visit--Yet!

Love a good happy hour and a pot luck.
