Where will the Mid-winter be held in '08

Is the mid-winter business meeting of the WBCCI always held at the same location as the following International or will it be at a location other than Bozeman in '08?

I saw on the WBCCI.org website forum, in an unrelated topic that the Winter IBT Meeting will be in Gonzales, La -the post was made by Bill Schrader who is the WBCCI PR Chairman, so I believe it to be accurate info. I don't have any further details right now, as I am not planning on attending.

Because of the timing of the event (mid-winter) if memory serves me correctly, the meetings are usually held in the southern states and not held at the location of the following International.

On the other hand, Bozeman can be quite temperate. Watch this coming winter's temperatures, and you may see Billings (3300ft elevation) or Bozeman (4400ft elevation) warmer than Miami. January 1983, I rode my Honda 750 to work and back for a week. It was sunny and in the 60's.
I think they should hold the Winter IBT in Bozeman....chicken!!

I looked on the WBCCI web site and couldn't find it. I looked on the tab for the International, Rallies, and Calendar. I'm not that familiar with the web site even though I am a member. I thought if it was close enough I might attend since I didn't attend the International in Perry and won't be going to the Bozeman.

How does one go about attending?

There wasn't a specific listing for it on the website...the events listed are only through the end of the year. I saw it referenced in an unrelated post on the forums there.

Check your Blue Beret...there should be a coupon in there for it.

Just thinking this out since I won't be able to attend the International next year in Bozeman, how many days does the mid-winter run and usually what approximate dates does it run, i.e. 2nd week or 3rd week? Do many members attend other than the IBT? Generally, what are the camping set ups usually, i.e. fairgrounds, state parks, etc? Is it a big deal or would it be a waste of time? Would there be many forum people there?

We attended the Pelican State Rally in Gonzales about two years ago and found the facilities pretty nice. We parked on gravel with full hookups. The facilities could handle a pretty large group altho' I forget how many were at that rally. There are some interesting sites in the area. I have never attended a winter IBT so I can't comment on the agenda except to say it is a preview to what issues can be expected to come up at International. If you like cajun food or are adventerous in that area you'll at least have some good meals. I don't mean to suggest that you'll get any free food. If the winter IBT is like the International that is one area where a lot of first timers are disappoited. At all the other rallies several meals are included in your registration fee, but apparently only a privileged few eat free at IBT events. At Perry I heard more than a few first timers comment on that with disbelief.

Well, the more I hear, the more I get the impression that the WBCCI is more about the privileged few and less about those that support them.

I'm not going to get hot about either one of those, but if there were continual IBT free meals -- well just point me to them...

That may be the few. If that is all then I agree you can't complain about those; however, it still is the only WBCCI rally where attendees receive no meals included in the registration fee. That said I wouldn't want to cook for that many either . I guess we just get used to some meals being part of the registration fee and most are far less than the Int'l.

I guess I could forgo the meals if we could have an Int'l without another ridiculous issue to vote down.

This year at the Mid-Winter IBT Rally in Perry we were welcomed by a lovely Southern Belle at registration. There was a wine and cheese reception that was nicely presented with fresh flowers on cloth covered rounds, that lent themselves perfectly for conversation. And of course there was Georgia peach punch. A terrific female vocalist entertained. However the highlight of the evening was when a line of gentlemen volunteers performed and sang, "On the Boardwalk" right along with the singer. It was as much fun for the participants as it was for the audience. They really put their hearts and souls into it. There was laughter and dancing and good times thoughout. An upscale catered meal was optional for approximately $20.00 and it included spinach stuffed chicken in buerre blanc sauce, green beans almondine, fresh bakery rolls, sweet tea, pecan pie and more. There also was plenty of coffee and cookies and pastries in the morning and during the afternoon breaks of the meetings. There was more entertainment nightly.

Actually I thought the entertainment was better at IBT in Perry than International! Overall I'd say it was a great time. I look forward to the next one. I highly encourage members to go to meet the leadership in person and discuss their concerns.
Carol, were you the person I met with the 2008 FB Classic Limited?

Hi Dan, yes that was me, except it's a 2007. The entertainment was good. Actually Alan Jackson's sisters' and mother's gospel group was scheduled to perform too, unfortunately they had to cancel due to illness. I was really anxious to hear them but unforeseen things happen, the group that was chosen to replace them was very very good too though. It was a nice dinner and I was happy to meet you and Bob and so many other officers. I am glad I had the opportunity to attend. I found the meetings very interesting and I learned a lot as well.
