29 and Fulltime

My husband and I started fulltime in our Airstream in March and we are 29. Traveling from Colorado to Florida in two weeks for a month then rally at Balloon Fest and on to the Rose Bowl rally with the WBCCI group. We just joined last week. We can't wait to meet everyone, regardless of age. So far my favorite part of all of this is meeting so many other Airstreamers. We have in the short four months we have been on the road, made lots of friends and learned tons from them. I wish we had started this lifestyle years ago, we love it!

Airstream clubs near Dallas

We are members or affiliates of several WBCCI units and have many friends at NTAC, though, most are older and retired. There are members of several WBCCI units living there. Visit and camp with the Heart of Texas Unit WBCCI that is primarily West of Ft. Worth and Texas Highland Lakes Units (North Houston/Austin area). We are member of and enjoy both. They are entirely different and you should check them out. You can be a member of one and an affiliate of as many others as you like which gives you the opportunity to pick and choose which rallies you want to attend.

We are near the upper end of the Gen Xers.

No kids, dogs are old, and I have retired from one job.

Look at these folks. they camp a lot, don't do WBCCI stuff at rallies, and generally have a good time. We were in the unit for a few years, but live in northeast OK and some rallies are a long way from us for a weekend.

Hey HogFan -- there are a few of us Gen X/Millenial Airstreamers in the DFW area! My wife and I have been camping within a few hours of the Metroplex for almost 10 years now.

We have two young kids (6 and 2), which has cut back on the number of trips we've taken lately, but we're ready to get back after it now that everyone is walking and talking ... This weekend, in fact, we're headed down to Galveston for a few days. We hope to take more trips in the fall when the weather gets a bit cooler. Always looking for new friends to share our love of the outdoors with ...

You know where to find me Hey BTW, there are SO MANY lakes up north and north east in Texas.... wouldn't take much arm twisting to get me (and my bass boat) parked next to one Hint Hint.

Over on IRV2.com, as an RV Mutant, We call this a "ponderance" or a "curiosity" - where in a group shows up at the same place to enjoy some time together.

There's one in Fredericksburg Halloween through the next 7 days. I'll be showing up the day after Halloween and staying the week on that one.

I'd be willing to help organize a weekend for a few of Airstreamers to go hang out someplace.

Xscapers (a subgroup ? of Escapees) is geared toward generation X. Check out post #22 on THIS thread - the couple who made the post had a great time at the Xscaper Convergence in Quartzsite, AZ. They also have an Airstream (in addition to a 5th wheel) and indicated they may host a Convergence in another part of the country.

Plasma & Phoenix, would love to plan a weekend and rally some folks to join us! And whomever else would be interested could come too! I've been looking up all the TX/OK/AR Airstream chapters too and hope to make it to come of the rallies this year :-)

Just let me know, I'm all for it.

I think we are about to bolt from this heat and head to Wyoming for a couple weeks.....

Xcapers is one of those clubs for us younger folks.
We just joined so we shall see the benefit.
Most of the people we have met are the retired crowd. We met some younger folks in Bend and then in Seattle, but they weren't full-timers.
I will say that any time we tell someone we are full-timers, they are in AWE, SHOCK and ENVY, in a nice way. They say do it while you're young!

Hi All!

New Gen Y member family here. My wife and I are both on the early end of the millennials, as we played the Oregon Trail game in black and white on the first Mac computers. We were also the crazy ones who bought a house way too young before the crash and we're lucky enough to ride out the recession and still meet the mortgage payments.

We have two early elementary children and 3 year old lab puppy.

I look forward to meeting you all sometime down the road.

Cheers!

Mike

We have had our Overlander for three great Summer's already, and we just joined. We were able to get our unit's previous owners membership number.

Hi Hogfan -

2 Gen Xers, no kids and two dogs. We try to camp almost every weekend in the DFW area. We also try to hit some state parks like Eisenhower and Daingerfield. Always looking for others to camp with!

We are two Gen X'ers with two boys 11/13 and a new Airstream (at least we *will* have a new Airstream soon - 27 FB delivery date of 30 Sept). Going to get out a couple of times before winter comes. Can't wait until next summer!

Hi Hogfan and other under 55s. If you're interested in attending a monthly rally in Texas, you might want to check out http://www.texasairstreamharbor.com/. It's the other Airstream community in Texas. They're right on Lake Sam Rayburn and host a rally the second weekend of every month. We paid them a visit earlier this week. While there are many older people who use the community as their home base, they informed us there is growing interest from younger folks. You don't have to be a WBCCI member to stay or attend rallies. Your Airstream is your ticket. My husband and I are thinking about attending the Oct. rally, so maybe we'll meet some of you there.
