I would love to join you, however, I dont know where I could meet you, maybe the RV Hall Of Fame as well. Ill have to see how things play out.
Why don't you join us at the factory on the 24th around 1:00. We are going to have a special tour and then a big pizza party. It is not everyday one gets to do a wagon wheel at the mothership.

That might work! The 24th is my first day off, and JC is only about 4 hours away from my house.

It is a relief to recieve updates from the trails of the Middy-Westy lands. This village of Shi-car-go (rhymes with escargot) seems to have trails, tribes and contentions to beware of. The WDC Caravan will caustiously trek through these lands.
I,ve taken a trailer through Chicago tooo many times. It's all tolls and fast pace cross-overs. The only sane way is to go I-80 to I-39 and miss all the fun.
1959 was a propitious year for the club. WBCCI, having begun in 1955, was nearly doubling in size each year, and the second International Rally was held in Wisconsin, at Wisconsin Dells. Several units were chartered at that rally, including the Wisconsin Unit.
So in addition to being the 50th anniversary of the African caravan, 2009 is the 50th anniversary of the first International in Wisconsin and the 50th anniversary of the Wisconsin Unit.
Which raises a question--did Wally attend the 1959 International, or was he in Africa?
(If I remember correctly the Africa caravan was sponsored by Airstream, not WBCCI.)

Wally and Stel attended the Wisconsin Dells Rally and immediately flew to Africa. Their trailer was already there waiting for them.
Here are two pictures scanned from the August 1959, Airstream plublication "the Caravanner."
Also it is the 50th Anniversary of the Teen Queen contest, it first appeared at the Dells.
Pee Wee
Wally's last International Rally was the 1960 Colorado Springs rally.

Yes, although I don't know if it counts as a 50th Anniversary in view of the fact that the Teen Queen contest doesn't appear to have survived the 50 years. There wasn't one last year and there won't be one this year.

Cheers,

Times change, a 49th anniversary isn't too bad.
I was young enough to date teen queens.

I really want to get a count thus far for how many. Sorry to be busting up the fun with official business, but our numbers are critical to me for wagon wheel planning and to the Leader for tours and meal planning. So as I read this thread we have:
Robandzoe(leader) wife and three kids
62overlander and one big kid named Pee Wee(advanced scout) and one kid
Rhonda and Dave and two kids? three?
Airedale and Dad?
Nuvite-F ? You in my man? we would love to have you....
Byamcaravanner and wife and four kids.
Who else? I know there are more...
I also might add: anyone going will get a bundle of water decals for all the locations we visit and places we camp.
