We left the rally Saturday morning and drove to Muncie, IN to visit with our son and his family for the Fourth of July. Got home Sunday evening. Aside from the flat tire we had on the caravan (near Chicago, IL), I had no other big problem. Unfortunately, a rock (or other projectile) hit the windshield somewhere near Chicago on the way home. Now I have a big chip and a "star" in the windshield. It's behind the rear view mirror where I can't see it, and the windshield guy here in town says he's going to fix it. Finding a windshield for a 1968 Dodge Polara might be a little difficult!
The International rally was OK. These International Rallies are what you make it. It amazes me how a bunch of volunteers create a city in such a short time. There’s even a radio station and a “police force”. It’s a “hoot”! Some in the WBCCI really like pomp and circumstance, epitomized by the opening flag ceremony. It's one of the last places you can find old traditions like that, and I enjoyed watching that too. I was happy that nobody got mad and yelled at me this time (thanks to good neighbors), which broke a tradition of sorts!
I’ll be looking forward to a nice simple camping trip now, one without provided water or electricity would be just fine.
I think a caravan across NY is a great idea and would enjoy participating. I’ve always wanted to go on a WBCCI caravan but the fees involved have always been an obstacle. It would be great if there could be an affordable “working man’s” and “family man’s” caravan (the word “man” not implying gender).

You should say "working persons" and "family person's" but I knew exactly what you meant using "man" instead.

Thanks for sharing your time with us. I sure was glad we could break bread together a few times.
