WBCCIs Airstream forums

A form mass email went out today........from Charlie Burke

The current situation regarding the member private forum has been a subject of much discussion among the admin/moderators.

It has become a forum of complaints and arguments with little or no resolution which the leadership hasn't been able to find the time to read, and only occasionally respond to.

The frustration of posting members continues to grow to a level that isn't healthy for anyone. Certainly not the positive asset the club might have benefited from.

We are working to resolve the situation and expect to have the private forum reopened in the near future.

We appreciate you understanding at this time.

If the admin/mod can't figure it out let me help you figure this out.

1. Who owns the forum vint air? Have it turned over to the club now.
2. Why is the forum sponsored by a used rv dealer, this flys in the face of the bylaws where a member is not to get any monetary benefit.
3. they claim WBCCI is a trademark.....hello is not!
4.When accessing the forum on a dial up it takes for ever to down load all the used rv pics.
5. the site is degrading to a not for profit club with a bunch of banners and links to rv's for sale
6. The TOS was written by the Gestapo
7. The forum is hosted on shared server under the control not of the club but the admin
8. The admin pulled the plug on his units web site before, if he does it again with the forum the club will loose it's asset.
9. Non member mods
10. meta tags that seek used airstream buyers

fix that for starters, this can be done by Monday

Fault of the admin

Recognizing it is good please fix it.

posting about some OTHER forum here is tasteless.

posting about some OTHER forum here is pointless.

asking QUESTIONS or using QUOTES of a mod/owners from some OTHER site here...

is taking the cheapest of cheap shots.

posting about some OTHER forum here reflects POORLY...

on the poster.

all of which fits U 2 A T.

the sole purpose is to INFLAME...clearly, historically, REpeatedly and intentionally...

which has replaced TRYING 2 solicit money or recruiting to the crying game.

a quick scan of virtually every wb' thread started by the OP HERE is a clue, going back 3 years.

ne1 with a stomach for it can scan the titles only and see this.
_________

i am NOT a fan of the wb' leadership and don't use their forum,

but THAT forum owner can run that site however...

_________

NONE of the tactics and NONE of the outcomes generated by the...

save, defend, cry and crysomemore group,

has produced a SINGLE positive or even remotely useful result...

NONE, and that's going back 4 years to the inception of the 'saversturnedintoCRYers'...
_________

as for how "dissenters" are treated?

the record is that the savecrydefend folks try to SHOUT DOWN every single member HERE who objects.

it used to seem that that the cryin' corner was equal (or no better than) to the wb' bobbleheads...

but clearly NOW they have advanced to first position and actually generate SYMPATHY for the wb'...

and/or growing apathy for the entire opera.

my guess is that this stuff is a huge turnOFF here for the MAJORITY of airforums members.

and takes LOT of time to moderate,

since wiping the noses of crybabies gets old and takes a lotta tissue.

cheers

I haven't seen the private forum in ages. If they are pretty strict about yanking posts then how could the forum get out of control by their standards? Anyone active other there could clue us into what just happened to get the entire private forum closed down at once. Perhaps it's just the periodic cleansing and purge to create pleasantville appearances.

As long as we are on the subject of expression and communication here are some interesting tips on eliminating toxic agruments that I read recently. It's one thing to argue and get riled up but there is a better way to channel energies rather than to totally disallow or deny them, or make them disappear. Perhaps moderation of the WBCCI could keep this in mind to facilitate healthy lines of communication.

We need to understand the difference between complaining, criticism and contempt.

Complaining is when you address an issue or an action clearly and precisely without being personal.
Example: 'You said you would do "this or that" and you haven't.'

Criticism is personal and often has a global statement such as 'always' or 'never'.
Example: 'You said you would do "this or that." You never keep your word.'

Contempt adds an insult.
Example: 'You said you would do "this or that." You really are a low life.'

We need to be able to complain; there are obviously issues that need to be sorted out and we need to be able to address them. No one wants to get landed with the short end or unfair treatment all the time or not be able to have their say. However there's no place in a successful relationship for criticism or contempt. They need to be avoided. No ifs, buts or maybes, pay attention, be disciplined and just don't do it. Be disciplined when you complain, don't slip in a criticism or a contemptuous remark. This is often not easy in the heat of battle but if you pay attention to your words you'll save yourself and others a lot of grief. Make a note to improve and you will get immediate results. The horror of the punch and counter punch is eliminated.

Another point to catch yourself on is when you try to justify your contemptuous statement. For example, if you have called me stupid and I pull you up on it; don't spend the next five minutes explaining that I actually was thick. If I'm dumb on a regular basis however, there are nicer ways to get me back to the land of the intelligent.

I had some questioning what is this miserable software that blocked users on the Wbcci forums was all about. A picture let alone a video is worth a thousand words

The poll needs one additional choice which is (None of the above). I have never had anything happen with my postings or use on the WBCCI forum.

I agree there should be a none of the above.

However you did not have much chance to run afoul of the moderators with only 6 posts, and none in the last year. In the beginning it wasn't to bad.

Generally only those who touched on controversial subjects or disagreed with a moderator had problems.

I first thought there should be an "all of the above" choice... but then I realized that I was able to check every one.

As Rick says... they are pleased as punch to have you participate until you raise a question that they deem to be "controversial"

My first foray into controversy was when I corrected someones fuzzy math by doing a full and accurate breakdown of the Caravan costs. The OP was low-balling the costs significantly.

Oh well, been a long time since I made my way over there... I did get to meet Rick over there though. We had a nice in-person chat at the Birthday Bash... making lemonade out of a lemon.

I joined the other forums to check it out months ago, but found traffic very slow, and did have a post removed when posting about some of the money issues. I have simply found airforums a much better place to be so have asked to have the wbcci account removed ( I just don't use it!!). Having a direct connection to club leadership was the only thing I personally found valuable about their forums, with that gone they simply appear to be a very seldom viewed inferior copy of this great community. Keep up the good work airforums people, we love it here!

For the first time I clicked on the DefendWally website (contained in the OP) to learn that it is basically a form of advertising begging for donations to file a lawsuit.

This surely is a violation of the rules of Air Forums, and should not be allowed.

Mike, begging wasn't required, many supporters use a similar link for about last five or six months.

Permission was given in advance.

Come on Frank, venting on the WBCCI forum isn't allowed, nor would a discussion such as this be allowed. That's why it's being discussed here.

Thumbs down

Besides Frank, I think I may have gotten Cortez and C Burke upset in starting this thread.

This is a classic response to any criticism about the forum operation.

For the record two emails were sent with proof of receipt to Mr. Burke to discuss these issues. He failed to reply, well on second thought he did.

Upon login to the Wbcci forums this popup blocker appeared!

You have been banned for the following reason:
Permanent Ban

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

Time for these two guys to step down, I call for their resignation.

Members need access we pay dues for this treatment?????????

Well, at least you were shown your ban up front. Ours was underhanded - the Miserable Users hack.
I would question Norm and the IBT to give you a reason that you have been banned when you have not been grieved (yet) or given a warning that you were doing things wrong.
That is a draconian punnishment. Sure wonder if it fits the crime.

Arrow The Wbcci bylaws

STANDING COMMITTEES - GENERAL DUTIES

F.

Electronic Communications To develop, provide and maintain an advanced community forum for present and potential club members. Provide support to individual club, Unit and Region members and other committees’ effort to exploit the many features available both on and off the Internet. Through these combined efforts, the electronic medium can be used to increase the club’s presence and relevance to present and potential club members. (7/5/10)

Does anyone think the committee chair Mr. Burke met those goals?

Some interesting reading relating to Cortez

and this

I thought I had this thread ignored forever but it keeps poppin up fer some reason.
I now going to push that button again and hope I never have to see this one again. I just wish I didnt have to read about wbcci on AirForums, they have thier own forum,go bitch over there,THANKS
