WBCCI Units Bucking The Trend/2008 Edition

Despite what has been happenning politically with the club,there are still some units that are holding their own and even some that are doing quite well.
Each year upon the release of the annual WBCCI Directory (since 1996)I tally up the membership for each unit of the club.I could get these numbers directly from Home Office but for several reasons I prefer to do it this way.
The stats I am going to list are unofficial and the comments my own.In previous years,I have compared my totals to those of Home Office and I am satisified that they are fairly accurate.
Keep in mind that these totals are derived from the information printed in the directory and there are always exceptions.Late renewals by members or units and human or printing errors are some examples of this.
If anyone has any questions on any of the info I provide,I will be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.
I will make several posts of info on this thread to get as many stats out there as needed.

HI Mike, do you have the stats on Metro Detroit and the other Michigan units? Or would you be posting in another place for units that are not showing an increase or holding their own? They don't appear to have made the lists. That is my geographical area and I am wondering if this might be a dry pocket for WBCCI. We do have a large group for forums rallies though, so Airstreamers are here.

Congratulations to all the growing units, way to go! WDCU has picked up lots of members from their former units and now being the largest, must be an indication of some consequence. Looks like you either become a progressive unit or they whither.

Glad to see we made the list.

Percentage wise we did not have the largest number (28%) but new member wise, we did pretty good (22 new members). I hope we can continue that trend.

If you are on the fence of joing the WBCCI, stop by our WDCU Cherry Blossom Rally in April. We tend to have a really goodtime.

There the Michiganders are in WDCU! And I bet there are plenty more just adrift. Seems the International and Region levels of WBCCI should be trying to reverse that trend of waning units. I think Metro detroit used to be quite large and active years ago. Makes me jealous, I want to move to a different location and be part of the fun. I know I can join you hospitable units for an event, but it is a different experience than being part of your own closeknit unit on a regular basis. You all need to send tutors out to the unfortunate units. How about you super stars co-host a revival rally here?

I am also going to hazard a guess that there is a high percentage of members that drop out are not VAC members, that the VAC retains their members and many owners of new Airstreams with no generational history with the club drop out.

Anyone know if the long range planning committee is on to these stats or merely looking into the fountain of youth and retention of power through Robert's Rules?
