WBCCI red numbers...do you have to?

Hello all,

If you join the WBCCI, do you have to put the red numbers on the trailer? I kind of liken them to bumper stickers on my rig... just don't do it, plus down the road it might affect clear coat etc.

The other question is: do you have to be a WBCCI member to attend the National Rally?

Nope, You don't. Lots of folks put the numbers on a clear piece of plastic and set it in the window. An Airstream without #'s is called a baldy.

If you don't have the numbers clearly posted in the correct location, you will be stripped nekked, flogged in front of the campfire, and shunned until the numbers are properly displayed.

(Just kidding)

I have heard that particularly at international the numbers are used to find your trailer for certain services, and they are not happy if they are not clearly displayed.

hi yak'

applying the numerals isn't required, but you may get harassed at wb' functions if they aren't displayed.

they are mailed out with SPECIFIC instructions on application which includes location and spacing...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f286...bers-9377.html

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f286...bers-5374.html

but many use other locations that are effective and tolerated...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f286...lay-28409.html

OR u could just go with the pretty blue ones!

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...ber-25357.html

forum functions don't require higher math skills or displaying digits,

but u must try2master the forum leg shake!

there is no "national" rally (although forum folks have played with this idea)...

there is a wb' INTERNATIONAL rally.....

of course this description is really a S T R E T C H in terminology...

'cuze it really isn't a rally. it IS the annual LEGISLATIVE EVENT...

for now.

and IF ya wanna CAMP onsite at the party convention (note the word order), membership is required.

otoh, visiting for 1 day can be done with a visitors day pass, without club membership.

cheers

OR.... You can display your red numbers proudly. You can even send in your dues on time and be listed in the directory so other members can see you on the road and know it is you. Some of us take great pride in being members of the WBCCI and are not ashamed to show it. Some are members, but hide the fact. My numbers are a larger size and font than the official issued ones.

I left a previous owners ghost numbers on too, as to not mess with the trailers history.

Thumbs up Hear, hear!

62,

Darn right. To me a vintage Airstream just doesn't look right without those big red numbers.

Cheers,
Nuvi

So the International Rally is the big todo for the WBCCI... originally I just thought it was a big get together of all Airstreamers. I didn't realize that you were supposed to belong to a unit and then show up. Back in my younger days I used to ride BMW motorcycles. Rally's were organized and it didn't matter if you belonged to some local club or not. Show up, pay for your campsite and enjoy. Come one, come all. I was a youngin' among most Beemer riders when I was 27 and riding mine. It was fun trying to get to sleep in the tent with a bunch of old farts snoring away.. I started to wear ear plugs and take some Benadryl.. Oh the good old tent days..

I'm a little older now, don't camp in a tent anymore but my wife says that I do snore!!

See what the years do to us youngins...

I would agree with 62, Yak. The numbers are like part of the history of my Airstream. I became a MAL in order keep my parents numbers. They were Airstreamers for many years. We have their last AS and wanted to keep it and the numbers together, history rolls on. 6196

yes yak'

the yearly international even=annual business meeting.

with a few ancillary activities for those attending the convention, or the spouses and offspring.

could it change?

will it change in time, is a more important issue.

really the closest thing ever to a national 'streamers camping and party event was the homecomings held by the company...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f47/...dees-5545.html

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...ming-9407.html

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...ing-14499.html

these regular parties were held in jackson center, hosted at and by the mothership.

last done in 05? i think, and it's too bad they stopped.

because like the motorbike events u remember, all one needed to do was pay and show up to have fun...

airforum rallies are still like that, as long as u learn the forum leg shake...

cheers

No, you don't "have to" put the big red numbers on your Airstream. I have to agree with some of the others. It just isn't an Airstream without them. I even mounted my blue Air Forums numbers.

NUMBERS?...We don't need no NUMBERS...We don't need no stinkin' NUMBERS...!

....SORRY, I got that confused with 'BADAGES'...

Guess we'll just have to have the 'Baldy' tag following us around. Don't have anything against the Mother Club...but the herd instinct is missing from our genes...

We do have some 'Ghost Numbers' up there posted by our original PO, if that 'counts' for anything...
