13,500 people did not read that thread. That's not a unique forum member counter, it's the total views. No doubt all by the same minority here.

All members had email and or phone access to the committee.
This committee was the most open committee formed that I know of.
Did you post any suggestions? any calls or emails?
Then he was remiss perhaps, several announcements were made.
Since you frequent this forum why didn't you chirp up and make an announcement at one of those meetings?
|
Forgive me if I'm wrong here but I didn't know Airforums was an official arm of the WBCCI. True there has been a great deal of discussion here about the committee but I never received any notification from WBCCI requesting input to this committee. I don't recall the committee chairperson or the WBCCI IP posting a request for input on these Forums.
If I did not frequent Airforums I would have no clue about this committee and from the broadcast of the mid-winter meeting I still would know very little about what was going on.
In the dark, Dan

Dan, it was also all over the official WB Forum. You didn't see it?
The WB also ran a full page ad announcing it in the Blue Beret. You probably missed seeing it because the Skymed ad caught your eye instead.

We didn't subscribe to WBCCI forums, That's still not a good excuse for not announcing directly to the members.

Not so much really. The line in that figure ultimately reaches the future; whereas the IBT seems to have its sights set firmly on August of 1972.

True, but the future is straight down, more or less following the WBCCI membership trend of the last 30 years.

Let's get the facts correct, it was announced in the Presidents newsletter, also many regions and units repeated the contents of that message.
The Constitution and Bylaws Revision Special Committee is taking shape. Approved during the International Convention/Rally at Gillette, WY on July 5, 2010, the Committee includes:
Dona Garner, Committee Chairman and WBCCI Parliamentarian
Kerry Mattila, President , Ontario Canada Unit
Joe Perryman, 1 VP, Region 10
Bob Novak, Member, Metro New York Unit
Tom Smithson, 1VP, Northern California Unit
The Committee's initial report will be made during the January 24-28, 2011 Mid-Winter IBT Rally in Robstown, Texas. My general guidance to the Committee was to recommend revision to the Blue Book which would reduce the "bulk" and make it more user friendly, while at the same time retaining the essential character and traditions of the WBCCI, to include the Code of Ethics.
The Committee is already hard at work, and I congratulate each member for stepping forward to contribute to this
potentially significant effort.
October region 7 Newletter
International President Norm Beu recently announced
that a Bylaws Revision Committee has been formed to
review and streamline WBCCI bylaws. Hopefully, results
will decrease the size of the Blue Book and make it more
user friendly while retaining the essential character and
traditions of WBCCI, including the Code of Ethics. Members
of the committee are Chair Dona Garner, Kerry Mattila, Bob
Novak, Joe Perryman, and Tom Smithson.
I think it was also in the BB.

I know there are a lot of views here on the WBCCI threads but I bet the majority of members do not follow airfourms and that is what IBT is counting on when the new Constitution comes up for a vote.
Will the MAL's be able to vote on the new constitution??
As a former MAL all my club info came from the BB so I think they are the least informed and would be willing to vote "yes" on the recommendation of the IBT.

Garry, that is a true and scary thought and perhaps one of the best ways for the IBT to get motorhomes into the club with the new constitution. Member awareness would be quite low. Leo and Save Wally would always run a campaign to try to inform and involve general membership especially when the club has faced radical changes. It's no wonder they got him removed and we see former members rising in the WBCCI ranks. Woe for us.

Bob one can't help but notice that you were the only mere member appointed to the committee. Most, if not all, were not even aware they could apply for becoming a candidate for this special committee of the Executive Committee. You must have been very influential or instrumental to have been selected by the International President, given the way leadership usually brings in their appointees.
Yet there was a public discrepancy with your explanation of Defend Wally, the withdrawal of the lawsuit and Norm's agreement for the exchange of a seat on this Revision Committee and Norm's letter refuting the entire matter as never happening. In light of Norm's countermanding his assured agreement with the Region Presidents over Forrest's amendment, also publicly, I think many people will now believe your statement over the IP and his letter disavowing Metro New York's announcement.
And yet you do not believe that there is reason for concern to approach this leadership's intiatives with trepidation?

It should have stated that I'm 2nd VP of Metro NY

Nominations were submitted by unit or Interclub presidents, so it may have depended if your unit President was aware or not.

Norm and the Exec Board interviewed & appointed the Committee members.
There were several other candidates.
The board was aware of my involvement with the defense fund etc.

There may be reason in any organization, but those decisions should not be based on hearsay, ask questions and get the facts.

Actually Bob I had asked you what the three changes were that the EC asked the revision committee to make that you mentioned in your post having to make.

Carol you're kinda intimating that we were pressured to make certain changes, we were not.
I'm not stating them.

Really how do you know that?
Before the vote in June every unit will have voted on it way before hand, the IBT can't influence that.
