Our unit had a very lively debate. Actually, it wasn't much of a debate. It was more of a Q&A session. When all questions were answered, the vote was unanimous. Some thought the idea a good one, until the discussion. In the end, our delegate was instructed to vote NO with all of our votes.

And in case anybody doesn't know, Matt's unit is about 6% of the total voting membership of WBCCI.

In my post earlier I ment to say our Unit has been unable to get a quorum for our business meetings to discuss the MH issue. Since I am the delagate I have sent an e-mail to all our members asking for a "yes" or "no" on the motion to be voted on. Out of 22 I have had responces from 8 and it was a 50/50 split. I had hoped for more responces but that's it for now.

I think the safest thing you can do is vote 8 for 8 against and 14 abstentions. At least that way the Leadership can not assign a yes vote to either in total or proportional for those that did not vote. Not that they would do anything like underhanded but lets just keep them honest for this one.

That does not add up

If he had 8 responses out of 22 members and the 8 split 50/50 then it would be 4 for the amendment, 4 against and 12 abstain. Proportional voting would yield be 11 for and 11 against the proposition. The current constitution calls for a 2/3 majority of the members voting. If everyone voted, that means they need 4,000 votes to pass the Thor motor home amendment.

WOW and to think I was just working with one of my granddaughters on her 8 times tables as I wrote this.

Lets try 4 for 4 against and 14 abstaining. If the constitution requires 2/3 of the membership as apposed to 2/3 of those voting the abstentions would count as a NO vote.

The only question then is if there is a significant number of abstentions, because almost no unit has 100% voter turn out, could that negate a quorum for the vote and set us back another year of this mindless game.

Jim,
I sent our FL unit vote in yesterday. I hope all members will send in a vote but I doubt it. You are correct about being interesting. To me, the MH issue is will we be an Airstream club going forward in July or just another RV club. A lot at stake.
Joe

I agree the MH issue is defining factor in this vote, even more so than the constitution changes. Jim

Not sure I agree the MH is that critical or more critical than the Revision, not saying that because I was involved in it.

But I believe the MH motion will be defeated in any event.

Would there be membership reduction if it passed yes, but not that many that will walk from the relations they have with friends.

In my opinion few will leave or even care if the revision is passed or not, but allowing non as in the club may be the final straw for many. Jim

The MoHo and REVsion both have their supporters and detractors. It is likely that both will be defeated. If they pass, some detractors will leave. The greater cause for concern for the survival of the club is, it has failed to keep pace with the times and therefore has not been able to attract enough new younger members. The seniority system for selecting leaders has resulted in policies and activities which is out of step with prospective members.
