We joined when our kids were 12 and 14 (4 years ago). They found many new grandparents who were happy to teach them new games and new crafts. Our oldest has been a Teen Queen Escort...I know the time is past, but he still enjoyed it. Both have been to International Rallies and enjoyed meeting other Teens "stuck" there. Our unit is hosting a Kids Rally this weekend. As Craig pointed out, we will have activities, including an all kid Talent Show. I have 9 kids signed up to perform, so far.

Would I do it again? YES.

Are there folks who don't care to have kids around? Always.

Try it and be your own judge.

Do they secretly enjoy being "stuck" there? Mine are still young enough under 10 to think it's fun. How I wish ours was ready to go!!

At the Internationals there is a children's program and there are local trips scheduled for the kids too.

I can't wait for my packet to get here so I can read over it. I spent some time at the region 9 website today. I haven't yet found anything about kids, but I am sure I've not found the right link yet. I think I'll spend some time looking at the International site too.

By the way I love your quote,

If you do nothing unexpected, nothing unexpected happens.

That is so true! It reminds of the quote from Shawshank Redemption -

"Get busy living or get busy dying!"

Give It A Try

Rebelstand,
Welcome aboard. You have made the correct decision. Give it a try and see if you reap any benefits.

One benefit of owning an Airstream, not necessarily membership in the WBCCI, is the use of all the Airstream Parks scattered throughout the US. Take a look at some of them here on the Forums in the Review tab at the top of the pages...

Airstream Trailer & Motorhome Reviews - Airstream Only Parks - Powered by ReviewPost

Heck there's even one on Oklahoma...

Region 9, WBCCI

Here's another location with a listing of the parks...

We applied for WBBCI application about a two months ago. We have not heard from them. Is this normal, or should we apply again?

That is not the normal turnaround time. You should call Cindy Reed at Jackson Center to find out what the hold up is. Her telephone number is 937-596-5211. She is the corporate manager. The person that should be processing your membership is either Deb Mann or Deb Sailor.

Glad I was able to help. We keep a permanent site at Penn Wood since 2006 and have spent two separate weeks at Virginia Highland Haven and one long weekend at the Cape May, NJ park (during a hurricane). Once we retire (in another 20 years) we hope to get to all the other.

You can't beat the prices and they are oh so much nicer and calmer than your run of the mill commercial campgrounds. Plus the people are great and you know you will always find other Airstreams to gawk at and drool over.

Happy Travels

Our park is WBCCI only and isn't on that page. Try

Top of Georgia Airstream Park

for information.

As for delay in application; the club normally holds applications in late spring / early summer until after July 1. That's because paying before July 1 means you have to pay again before November 1. This way you get an additional few months. If you have a planned Caravan or Rally that requires membership in that time period, the will go ahead and process your application.

Hope this helps.

Great club for us

The WBCCI has been wonderful for us, even after 15 years.

Our son was 13 when we started and we went to many International Rallies with him. We got a tremendous amount out of volunteering to chaperone or do whatever with the Family and Youth programs, met lots of other families and were busy with lots to do at the rallies.

We still value our WBCCI and local Unit with the many events and people we have met along the way.

BTW, our son joined as a member with his own trailer about 5 years ago.

We are planning to join (upon completion of our restoration) but I am still wondering what the youth activities are like. Everyone talks about them in a general but doesn't mention anything specifically. Even the packet we got didn't specifically mention kids activities. I am sure they differ from unit to unit but I'm just looking for a clue. I would like to be able to give my kids an idea of what to expect.

Thanks!!
Nicki

We've been members of the WBCCI New England Unit for 7 years and they have been the best years of our lives. We just returned home from a small but wonderful NEU rally this weekend, it just reinforced my commitment to the club.
