WBCCI dress code change?
Can't stand the thought of a red sportscoat?
Refuse to wear a blue beret?
The WBCCI website now offers WBCCI Polo shirts and baseball caps.
Some say "No big deal."
Some say "The modernization has begun."
Others say "Where's the rasta beret!"
By the masses wearing Polos and ball caps to the International and rallies the traditional uniform and formality of the club that so many find offputting is relaxed. Clearly this is not the solution to all of the problems but it's a step.

This sounds much more like a camping club.

Beret??
Funny you can't even buy a Blue Beret on the WBCCI store site! Just a standard baseball cap!

Not on the clothing part but elsewhere you can.
Dress like a camping club and people will act like it's a camping club.

Sounds great! As mentioned a positive step to hopefully dress down the officers and not because membership needed dressing up! (Just kidding) Good to see change coming.

Flip flops sometime not the best
Flip flops are ok for some places but sneakers might be better for camping in tall grass. I just noticed this warning about the Walmart brand which some people are alergic to. They had a recall on those in the stores but alot got out.

I just want to point out - in all fairness, I have never seen anyone dressed formally at a rally. All of the WB rallys I have been to have been very friendly casual affairs.

who says they changed the "code"? just because they're selling polo shirts doesn't mean anything, other than "you can buy a polo shirt".
(though, I agree...they should; just sayin, I don't think they have).

I agree with you Chuck, I'm not convinced that the dress code for Interational and Region Officers has changed. I think what is available on the WBBCI website is just stuff members can purchase to display their club pride.
The NEU has an online club store too: NEU2007Store
Here is where New England Unit members can purchase items with our new NEU logo. Our members get to display their unit pride and the NEU gets a dollar or two per purchase.

When in office and at all WBCCI functions that are holding business meeting the Executives that held the "status" of yesteryear in high regard "dressed up".
This is not an unusual occurrence in many National and International Organizations.
But society changes and is changing - everything is slacker less ridged but for reasons. Practicality and expense being the important factors. But ridicule also plays an important role in change
Seriously fashion has changed. Back in the day - a tie and jacket were fashionable - as was smoking.
In the sporting world all wear uniforms to identify your "team" - when taking office - it is nice to see your officers - so that you can target them. For questions and compliments that is.....
But as I got further into the Club - it was pretty easy to see who the officers are - They are usually the ones in the best rally parking spots up front and with the most flags - and quite possibly the best looking trailers - well that is what I noticed at the OU.
All about IMAGE - but what can an IMAGE do to grow the Club??????
Losen the tie - roll up the sleeves and take the wool beret off during the summer to let the brain breath a bit and let that innovative progressive thinking in.
Hey if any one wants to give their blue Beret away I'll take it....
So I can wear it at my very first International Rally during the Concourse Judging. Either standing in front of my nicely restored vintage Trailer or my brand new Airstream paying respects to its history...

Did they do an actual factual change? No.
Would the ability to dress casually in WBCCI apparel cause an accepted change? Yes.

Sorry, I can't give mine away as I wear it with my best sweat pants and shirt during NEU business meetings.

interesting bit of paranoia here.
there is no 'dress code' for the WBCCI. it is rather difficult to change something that doesn't exist.
There are matters of respect. Respect for others. respect for your organization, respect for yourself. One way to show respect is in how you present yourself.
This generation is one of the few that has taken the 'up yours' method of expression to new heights in self presentation, even to the point of creating rules to flout where they don't exist to start with.
interesting paranoia.

The closest I've come to seeing "formal" attire at a rally was at the International in Perry, GA. Whilst cruising around on my bike and taking lots of pictures around the fairground (as I'm prone to do) , I witnessed several club members having a good time serving what appeared to be martinis and other miscellaneous liquor drinks, under awnings atached to huge motorhomes. The men were wearing pleated pants, wing tips, and shirts with button down collars. One of the ladies had a dress and a blouse, but the others wore shorts and blouses. I hope my terminology is correct, as I'm no fashion expert. I thought it was pretty cool looking, something like an advertisement out of the 50's, but it was too dark for a picture. I pedalled back to my site attired in shorts, WDCU tee shirt, and flip-flops and had a beer with my neighbors.
It's all good.

Not that you may have been addressing my post - I don't think I said there was any rule for dressing up or even a dress code - as in a mandatory uniform.
However - it is quite evident in those units that still up hold the "dress up" to portrait importance and professionalism when in office and during AGM's - I have seen it with me only little eyes..... I don't think it is made up at all.
It was and still is a matter of fashion and identification.
"This Generation" referring to??? Careful how you step their Bryan
As for Rules or Code - when something has been done for so long - they become the un written code of conduct - similar to the concept of a Right of Way - it is just there and when you try to mess with it - you will get people bucking it in the like fashion of "changing" rules.....
I don't see any paranoia here.....
I have seen your pics of your Rallies Bryan and you guys are so relaxed it is such a pleasure looking at your site and seeing what getting out and having fun is all about.....
