Call me vain (wait, some IBT member already did when they voted down the numbered Unit Caravan motion last time), but I like seeing caravan numbers after our name in the Membership Directory.

To me the biggest heroes in our club are not the International officers (not that we don't appreciate someone stepping up to those positions), it is the caravan leaders and those that have the longest list of caravan numbers after their names - think of all the things they have seen and done.

If assigning official numbers to 7, 8, or 9 day Unit caravans helps encourage some members to try one for the first time just so they get to see that number in next years Directory, what is so bad about that? And no one is suggesting that Region or National caravans should qualify for numbers if less than 10 days in length, just Unit caravans. The key is to enable "weekend to weekend" caravans for members that may be limited to a weeks vacation or just to make it a little easier for anyone to "test the caravan waters".
