It is reassuring to hear people say that but they just do not complement the beauty of the AS. I am going to try static cling to see if I can live with the look. Permanent decals may follow.

The very first thing I did to my trailer was put on the numbers. It's a tedious job but the instructions (using soapy water) are spot on. I think Airstreams are naked without them - it is a point of pride to me that connects me to years of tradition.

We went with the cling sheet version. Squire Designs makes them. Love it!

How does it hold up with respect to weather? Supposedly, the shortcoming of static cling is rain and such end up removing the decal.

The front one holds up great. The rear one gets all the rain rolling off the roof and gets a couple pockets of water in the top. The good news is, it stays on and I can take it off, wash it with soapy water and reapply it (after cleaning the trailer area first...).

I'm happy with it and it's MUCH easier than trying to apply them one at a time (I just have no patience).

I tend to agree. Without the Big Red Numbers, it kind of looks like an Airstream knock-off.

I always thought they were rental trailers (those Airstreams with red letters).

Could be. It's certainly not a phone code; there are no letters associated with the 1 and 0 digits, so your WBCCI number 1007 and mine, 1105, don't translate to names.

But for WBCCI members whose numbers contain only the digits 2-9, can you make a name from your WBCCI number just using the letters associated with those digits on a phone keypad?

Mine is my date of birth, 9632, September 6, 1932.

And, yes, I turn 81 in a month.

Hi,

I just bought my AS, and I try to find where I can find the blue letter for the air forum number. I'll look for the WBCCI club.

Another option

We have our numbers on a roll down window shade. That way we can roll anonymously or identifiable. We have the number on a piece of clear plexiglass. This just hangs from the window visor in the front window. We have a moho. Here's a link to our rear window. I don't have a photo of the front window.

I still fly my "Reinstate Leo" banner between the numbers.

Not a bad idea! I just received my static cling numbers which I will install before my next trip.
