Would sneeze work? I mean does the bodily function need to be airway related or would the GI related 'fart' also serve to bump?

In the State bureaucracy within which we once worked , we would call the 2020 committee, whose thoughtful recommendations and actions are then resoundingly ignored, window dressing or a dog-and-pony-show. A pretense of objective review, for which there is no required compliance, followed by self-serving action by those in power.

Leo, Looking at this from a different angle, do you or would you consider THOR is behind this more than the IBT? As the tally shows, most IBT'ers have trailers. Who stands to benefit the most opening WBCCI to more THOR products. More rigs allowed into the oldest RV Club in the world: the history, the prestige, the glamour, the advertising.. Just look at the exposure Airstream has received this summer in numerous publications, American Bungalow, the Progressive Insurance ad, etc.
I think offering a re-badged CLass A as an Airstream is the window dressing of things to come. IMHO

'bus, you may have hit on something. If Thor hasn't thought of this, they should have because from their point of view, it makes perfect sense. I'm not saying it makes sense from other points of view. I seem to remember having read that Airstream withdrew financial support for the WBCCI, so that, if true, may indicate Thor doesn't care that much about the WBCCI as a shrinking organization. Still, I appreciate the deviousness of your idea.

Oh… Wasn't there going to be a lawsuit? Wasn't there some indication it would have been filed already?

I think it is more a result of certain IBT members and past IBT members beating on Airstream for a way for them to have a brand new, absolutely neato, 4-slideout motorhome and not lose their WBCCI perks and membership in the process.

I know that our immediate past IP would like to have a new class A. He has some justification due to his wife's medical problems to stay with a motorhome, but there is no reason he or any of the others couldn't pull a trailer with a Sprinter or the new B-vans or C-class and still have the amenities of a motorhome while under way.

If Thor was behind this, I wonder what kind of incentives might be offered to IBT members to push such a rule change through?

Cheers, Dan

Per Larry Huttle, Chairman of the Airstream Division, they do not want to have anything to do with a real rebranding, which would mean these units would be sold and serviced by the Airstream dealer network. He clearly stated to me, in a personal conversation, and repeated at the presentation to the membership that, if the IBT gets these units approved for membership they will NOT be an AIRSTREAM but rather an Airstream or WBCCI model of the original Thor producing division. It is true that having a Thor "approved" model would mean additional sales for Thor vs having them possibly purchasing a competitor's product.

OK, Dwightdi Larry Huttle did say a possibility would be to create a WBCCI Edition Class A, but how many RV dealerships sell and service other THOR product? Our local Airstream deailer is also a Four Winds dealer. Is this a conincidence?.

I'm unclear what that means. How can it be an "Airstream Ö model" and not an Airstream so far as the general public's perception?

When you have a distinctive brand, messing with it can be a marketing disaster. One can argue that the previously made Airstream motorhomes were pushing the Airstream identity. On the other extreme, Basecamp.

The way I heard it was they would consider having one of the divisions offer one model with the Airstream or WBCCI label. Thor has Damon and Four Winds that make Class A. Damon offers 6 models and Four Winds offers 5 models. The most expensive is the Montecito. We do not know what the boys want to buy. If we want to make the club into another SOB club (and appeal to the most people including young families) we should accept all of them. If we just want to continue the tradition of just being an Airstream club, we should accept none of them. Businesswise,I do not see why Thor would object to sticking a sticker on any of their models, if it would mean more sales.

So that would be like a car or truck company taking a regular model, adding a paint stripe, making a few accessories standard and calling it a "Colorado" or some other sexy name, charging a lot more for it, and selling it.
