Sounds like a good trailer. If you post the serial number, we can decipher it for you and tell you the year and plant of manufacture.

WBCCI numbers vs trailer year
The number is not related to the year of the trailer. It is rented from the club by the year. It is called dues. If it is 1963 it has 7 panels in the hemispheres. If it is a 1964 it only has 5 panels. If she lost the title paper, you should have her apply to get new papers before you buy it from her. Getting a new title with just a bill of sales is a lot of trouble in most states. If you know what years they were members of the club we could check whether that number was registered to them in those years. PM me with their name and I will check my directory collection to see if she is telling you the truth.

Serial Number
Serial numbers are definitive for dating. Or we can figure it out from pics because the front doors in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965 were all different from one another.
1962 had an overlay main door and overlay door-within-a-door. Big strap hinges.
1963 had two small hinges on each door.
1964 had the big strap hinges again but the door-within-a-door was flush inset.
1965 had a single cast hinge, cast door framing.
There are many other ways to tell the difference because the trailers were evolving quickly during that period.
But again, serial numbers tell all.

the serial numbe is 193D221 She bought the trailer and never put it in her name and the lady she bought it from is real old and she dont remember what state it was last titled in. It took me 9 time to go and get a new vin number and title on the 1947 international bread truck that will be hauling it. I love punishment i guess. I bought the trailer driving through co. around denver 4 weeks ago and she said she would have to find the title, i was going through to utah and phoenix to do some work and i said ok i will pick it up in 4 weeks and you find the title. She didnt so i brought it home and will get the title with pain. thanks it will be nice to know its a 1963. It doesnt have the big hinges in the door like the 1962. It just has big dents in the roof.

You have an Ohio built 1963 Globetrotter.
19 is length.
3 is 1963.
D is double bed (I believe).
221 is sequence in production.

1967 Lists 8531 as being assigned to Brown but I can not find them in the alphabetical listings. In 1968 it is listed to Ms Ethel Brown from Rochester, NY, but no caravans were listed.

Big red numbers
Those numbers are membership numbers from Wally Byam Caravan Club International. 8531 does not appear assigned right now. If you chose to join the club you can call Deb Mann, Membership Director 937-596-5211
Her email is dmann@wbcci.org
She can check that no one has been assigned the number since the last directory was published and sign you up for membership as well as accept your credit card payment. If you want to check out which one of the local units you wish to join before you make the commitment to the international, Deb can reserve the number for you and you can make your application for membership with the treasurer of the local. Deb will send out your numbers when she receives the application and payment through the local. Check out the national website at http://wbcci.org/

I met with Don Hempel (Barney's son) in London recently whiel he was on vacation. He had spent many hours looking over old slides and managed to find a number of 1234 photos from the 50's.
Attached is one with family dog skip and pink caddy.
Regards,
Sam.

Many thanks,

Do you have any idea when the number was put on or what year the trailer is. That is a pretty low number and likely has been reassigned a number of times. In 1964, it was assigned to Huling and Ester Woodworth from Lake Toxaway, NC.

membership number 1634 - Bambi 2
Many thanks for the history on the two SorR's I posted.
I have a little Bambi 2 with 1634, is there any records on this number. It is tagged with a New York dealer.
Thanks,
Sam.

Airstream 1234
For anyone that remember the Sovereign of the Road 1234. I have managed to make contact with the Jorgensens and have posted some photos of the trailer and its travels during their ownership -

another airstream sticker search 3015
Hi,
I'm restoring our trailer which has the WBCC sticker numbers 3015. The numbers are gone but in the right light we can see a ghost of them. Also at the front if you look at the right angle you can make out Mexico 60 and Colorado Spr 60, which I assume is a caravan it was part of. There are some other very faint letters above this but really all we can make out is that one word ends in a D.
I've just posted some photos on our blog, but they are hard to make out. POLISHED STUDIO
Sam, who has posted here before (a fellow Airstream owner here in the UK) suggested this was the place to try and find out some more about the history of our trailer.
I hope somebody out there can help.
Thanks
Colin
