Thanks Pee Wee. You have the credentials to know but were ther both stickers and aluminum plates such as shown? The ghost on mine was definately made from something other than a plate afixed to the coach. The Ghost numbers 3667 were red and the CARAVAN image blue. I am having them printed Monday and may get some in red and some in blue. I would like to hear more from you.

Wally Byam's CARAVAN Stickers

I now have Wally Byam CARAVAN stickers for your vintage Airstream available for $12 each plus minimal shipping cost. These were used on Caravans from about 1951 to 1962 as I understand. My 1958 Flying Cloud has a ghost image with a blue background. Aluminum plates with a red background were used too.

If I have attached the scanned image correctly you will see I have reproduced them with a blue and a red background. Please send me a PM to order. If not I will email to you. For those of you who have already contacted me let me know what color you prefer.

Hope you like them. I think they look great. I can hardly wait to place on ours.

Nope. Didn't come through. Once this issue is posting resolved, we'll all get to see your handiwork. Really looking forward to seeing your stickers.

Hi, Critter,

Welcome to the forums!

It's hard to tell with the attached images not working on the forum right at the moment, but this thread is about the aluminum foil stickers found on many old Airstreams that say in bold block letters, "Wally Byam Caravan". (Wally, the founder of Airstream, was leading factory caravans before the WBCCI was formed.)

The red numbers on the ends of the trailer are the owner's (or former owner's) Wally Byam Caravan Club International membership number.

And, if you're not a WBCCI member, I cordially invite you to join! We have a lot of fun together! WBCCI.org

See you down the road,
Nuvi

We finally have the etched plaques in stock. Photo will go up this week. Just wanted to give folks following this thread advance notice.
Wally Byam's Caravan Etched Plate

Thanks to Doug, Mike, Dick, Pee Wee and Fred for helping pull together what is known so far about these rare and mysterious emblems of our history. I'm guessing more information will be gathered in years to come and I will add it to our site and post anything I learn here.

I just purchased a 1970 Overlander. I was cleaning out the bins under the gaucho and found what looks to be ALL of the original paperwork, manuals, etc. with handwritten notes by the previous owners...little tips and tricks that they found useful pertaining to to maintenance of the AS and travel.

I am also interest in the Wally Byam club as my AS has a roundish sticker also on the front.
