Have to add my perspective, because 5 years ago I had the same question.
We attended our first WBCCI rally in 2011 as non-members; we didn't know a single person at this joint NEU, WDCU rally - not one! I wouldn't describe us as an outgoing couple either. It was even the first time we were ever out in our 1974 Tradewind.
From the moment we arrived and for the entire long weekend we were treated like old friends. You would have thought we knew these people for decades! By the time the weekend was over we were members of WBCCI. We have done many rallies and caravans with both units and keep adding friends.
A year later (2012) we were at our first ever Region 2 Rally in NY State. This time several members noticed (from my truck's front dealership license plate) that we were from the same locale in PA as they were. They adopted us, asked us to join the group for dinner, made us feel really welcome. We joined that Unit (Penn-Lehigh) as our home unit and are now members of 3 units.
For us, joining WBCCI was the single most important factor in enjoying and expanding our love for Airstreaming.

Hi. Thank you for this great suggestion! We have been trying to figure out to display numbers on our new Grand Tour without sticking them on the rv. We'll be looking for a magnetic sign in time for our next Airstream rally!
We mounted the WBCCI numbers on a piece of plexiglas and put suction cups on the back that are removable for storage.
I like that solution. Might do it that way when/if I buy a new Airstream.

Ditto except we used Velcro instead of suction cups... it has lasted for over 5 years now just putting the panels up as "requested" other wise nada ...
