Is it a requirement to have the red letters on your trailer? What is NOVA is that some kind of sub group of WBCCI?

There is no requirement to have the red numbers on your Airstream, but I personally think they look great. When you are at the International Rally you are asked to display your number so that the locators, messenger services and others can identify your RV.

NOVA is one of the 120+ Units of the WBCCI. Units are located all over the United States, Canada and most recently Europe. More information about the club can be found at www.wbcci.org

There is no requirement that you display your red WBCCI number on your trailer, although most do. The only place you have to display your number is at international rallies, where they need it to be able to find your trailer. Some people put their numbers on a separate sheet of material (like plexiglas) and only display them at rallies.

WBCCI is organized into local chapters--callled units. NOVA is "Northern Ohio Virtual Airstreamers" a unit which conducts most of its business on the internet. Units do not have geographic territories. You can join any unit you want as your primary unit and join additional units if you want as affiliate members. Or if you wish you can join as a Member at Large (MAL) without joining any unit.

Hope this helps!

So NOVA is a particular unit like Mississippi Unit?

Dear M.Hony,

8K+ posts! If you don't know what NOVA is, I haven't been doing my job very well! PSST, It's an acronym.

I invite you and others to visit www.campnova.com to learn more about one of the many terrific WBCCI units.

Red letter question

Before joining WBCCI we wondered about the big red letters, and, frankly, found them unattractive. Now, we find them both fun and useful. At rest stops, enroute, etc. it is pleasant to identify other ASers, and, if one desires, to make communication. There is a certain fellowship among RVers (at their best) although there are a few pickles in the jar. Other travelers are an excellent source of information re good stops, interesting sites, etc.....especially ones otherwise not advertised nor generally known. Some parks and vendors offer special prices or treatment to club members.

Well said. Could not agree more.
It might be nice to have an alternate to the red numbers that would still allow for member identification without defacing ones trailer. I see some people put the numbers on the window but it's still the huge big numbers.
Anyone got any ideas?

If you go to some place like FastSigns, you can get removable and reusable cling-film signs made up with big red numbers and a copy of the WBCCI roundel. Apply them when you go to a rally or on a caravan, remove them otherwise.
