To WBCCI or not

Since there has been so much discussion over on the Bob Thompson thread about WBCCI to belong or not, I felt it was time to start a proper thread on the subject. No one will ever find a club or organization with more than three members that will not have problems. Yes, currently WBCCI has more than its share of troubles and problems and perhaps with the current events there is change in the air. As for there being only two choices as mentioned if you own an Airstream, WBCCI or the Forum, sorry I can't agree. I belong to WBCCI; I love the history, my Unit (New England) and the folks I have met along the way. I like many of the old traditions of the club but there must be change (no I am not running for President of The United States) so that the WBCCI fits to its membership and not the other way around. However, I belong to other camping clubs too. We spend too much time on the road not to enjoy camping and will continue to do so with either the WBCCI, Good Sams, Tin Can Tourists, Friends on the Forum, or any other club or organization that may come along if it is fun and enjoyable. The WBCCI may indeed implode, but I will remain a member till it's dying days. I will also continue my memberships in the other clubs and continue to camp and enjoy the trip for as long as I can.

To WBCCI or not

I joined the WBCCI in 1995 (I was 35 at the time), and haven't looked back since -- each year has brought a series of new experiences and new friends. Every activity that I have attended has had something that provided one or more great memories. Three years ago, I expressed my confidence in the club and purchased a Lifetime membership. I know that part of my satisfaction is linked to membership in an exceptional Unit -- the Wisconsin Unit.

I just joined, Mostly because of what 4CU does, I want to have fun camping with fun people..... Can't wait to meet them all..... As far as International rallies.. At this point in my life I don't have time for that stuff, and neither does my family...

May you have at least one sunny day, and a soft chair to sit in..

New member....Four Corners Unit....and, yes, it's a long drive from where I live! I hope to make at least one rally with the unit every year! None of the local units were attractive to me for one reason or another....FCU seems like my kinda people, and at least I get a vote this way.

I believe it was 1980 when I first joined WBCCI with the NM unit. When I got transferred with a job we just dropped our membership until we moved back to Colorado in 1993. We rejoined with Colorado West Unit and has just recently joined the Four Corners Unit. We have been to at least one International Rally (Salem) and we didn't really participate in all of the formal activities at it. We truly enjoy the Four Corners Unit because they have rallies to enjoy themselves and everybody have a good time. We just got back from the Balloon Fiesta and what a blast we had. It really makes it worthwhile being a member of the FCU. Granted you have some of the WBCCI rules to follow but it's main purpose is to camp and enjoy yourself.

We are in and we belong to the Central Maryland Unit. We enjoy going on our own sometimes and traveling with the unit to rallys.

I just payed for my second year. I was going to hold back, but the WDCU is worth every penny of the membership. I am going to just continue to get out of it what I put into it.

We joined in 06 (I was 45). We also camp with an informal Yahoo group and Forums Rallies. The experience has been tremendous.

Our home is the GA Unit and the folks there have been very nice to us, our kids, and our pets. We have enjoyed 2 Internationals and plan to attend our 3rd next year.

Do we like everything in the club? NO. Do the benefits outweigh the problems?..NO QUESTION. Absolutely!

Can the club improve...of course. I believe it will, thanks to the hard work of the folks who care so much about the future of the club.

I have met nothing but very nice folks in the WBCCI and the Vintage Airstream Club. I haven't regretted joining either group. A club is what we make of it....both negative and positive.

Try a Buddy Rally next spring. You can find the nearest unit (probably the Wisconsin Unit) at under Regions and Units...Region 7. I'm sure they would love to have you visit.

We have enjoyed our membership in WBCCI since 2003. We spent the first weekend in October with El Camino Real in San Diego and watched the Blue Angels perform at Miramar. We will be in Sage, CA the second weekend in November visiting with our friends in the South Coast Unit.
