I had read they like to have prayers but thought maybe they were a bit nondenominational, but it appears they are not. Of course to a Buddhist or Taoist, any prayer of one of the western religions may sound strange. It would seem if the WBCCI is a Christian camping group, they should disclose it, but if they are as insensitive as it seems, why would they be aware not everyone is a Christian?

But turning to the 34', if I recall correctly, they did not want to make them because they didn't sell many and didn't want to have all the special inventory needed for them. If they are special order units or they figure there's pent up demand, they can cover the costs the way they always do—charge way above market.

the REAL reason for temporarily pausing 34 production has never been posted.

pay no attention to the phony baloney reasons posted here...

it was all a smoke screen.

the truth will be revealed someday, the truth shall set them free...(the 34s that is)

Issuu is presentation software which certainly be used to read a magazine or newsletter. We routinely publish the work we are involved in for presentation purposes. We do not use it as the final source for our viewers to see the our publications. For that, nothing beats having that paper in hand (assuming the publication is properly laid out and printed on a comfortable stock).

We use similar software for the Vintage Advantage on the VAC site, but we actually host our newsletters on the site, not linked through a 3rd party.
My offering on this topic is this - the final quality of the online version is dependent on the source images used. Lower quality images/pdf files result in a faster loading but poorer quality reading. It's a tradeoff.

My big question is this - why is it hosted at a 3rd party site not attached to WBCCI - has WBCCI sanctioned this? What is it costing the club? Is the cost worth it? Is the club so locked into its hosting agreement with OTS that this is the only option to achieve its goals - hope 3rd party entities will provide these services for the club?

From my experience, it is not outside the realm of possibility for the club to have made this publication available online for members only to see. It detracts from the club to make it freely available online for anyone to see at a domain outside the umbrella of the club's root web site. This web site is not a showcase piece for the benefits of the club quite frankly. I really hope the club is not paying for this! In my opinion, it is so fractured from the WBCCI's identity that it cannot really be helping boost membership.

But what do I know...

Wink Retaile magic

There's an old (and secret) strategy some retailers use. Lean close, I'm going to whisper it to you:YOU CREATE a SHORTAGE.

Yes! By making something rare, and difficult to obtain, it is often guaranteed that you will create a strong demand.

Wait a while: the 34-footer will be back.... I can't say when, but it will.

Does anyone else have trouble with this on their iphone or itouch?
The catalog works on my computer at home, and at my work, but I can't get it when I need it most - mobile version. And I tried more than one issue. Is it just me?

Iphone does not support java scripting I suspect so it doesn't work on that platform.

Thanks for the help! Good to know that it might not be me!
Is there another catalog style platform that might work for everyone else and itouch? I might also need this information for work later this year.....

I read this too and was pretty disappointed in the response from the "Editor". My point of view: Religion should not be part of our club. I'm all for separation of church and WBCCI.

Huh? The only times I've had to sit through prayers were at the opening of a region or international rally. Maybe this is what you mean by major rally? Religion has not been part of any of the unit rallies I've attended and I think my count is 75.

I too would much prefer a simple pdf over the new Blue Beret web site and did express that opinion to WBCCI HQ some time ago and now the pdf is gone and we are left with this page flipper anyway. On my very old 14 monitor the text is clear and readable when zoomed in, but I hate moving the page up and down and left and right to read things - what a poor user interface.

The only thing I can note is that if you do go to the new blueberetonline website, click the "layout" button and select "Paper view" and it is then tolerable - you get sequential pages that can be zoomed to page width (or some other width) and then you just scroll up and down through the pages - no more moving the page around on the screen to read it.

An opening prayer has been part of most , if not all unit meetings I have attended and some form of blessing at every unit meal.
I can't say how many that is, but I joined in 72 so it has been a few.
I have never looked to see if this is called for in the blue book or has just become "customary"

Must be "customary" in your neck of the woods. It's not done here, at least not in the New England Unit.
