Texas Plains unit?

Anybody know anybody in the Texas Plains unit? I ask because we were reading the rally schedule (dreaming about getting away) and discovered that this unit is having a rally in September in Angel Fire.

Angel Fire?!? Wait a minute! The only rally we know about is with DenCo! (Besides Angel Fire Deep Pockets Resort, we're pretty much the only game in town here.)

The Membership Chairman for the Texas Plains Unit is:
Bill Hicks
Texas Plains Unit
Crosbyton, Texas Phone: (806) 675-2856
brhicks33@aol.com

Perhaps he can tell you who the current President and 1st vice president are. I would think one of them has scheduled this rally. The Texas Plains Unit is one of the smaller units in Region 9 with only 21 members at last count.

We saw it in the Blue Beret and then at the wbcci site, like Rich. There's a telephone number at the site, too, so maybe we'll just try to give them a call. If that doesn't work, we'll try with Bill Hicks.

Strange thing happen, some stranger than others.

On the WBCCI website, it lists James Durham 806-745-9564 as the contact person for the Angel Fire, NM Rally, to be held in September. You might try him. I am assuming he is the current President of the unit.

Yep, that's who we'll try to call first.

Sam Spence is the President of the Texas Plains Unit. I believe the Unit has changed their rally site to Ruidoso because the Pendaries RV Park is doing some maintenance work.

Pendaries? Wow, then they were a bit off on their geography. Pendaries (owned by nice folks we know) is well over a hundred miles from here by car, somewhat less as the bird flies!

Actually, I was wondering if they hadn't planned to go to Sierra Bonita, which is only about 20 miles from here. (For reasons that I've never understood, the Sierra Bonita folks receive their mail in Angel Fire even though the much closer post office is in Mora.)

I hope they check with the folk in Ruidoso carefully. The flood down there did a lot of damage. Places away from the creek did well, but those near weren't so lucky.

Hey Lynn -- It wasn't a geography problem, as much as a schedule change. I think the info on WBCCI.ORG just hasn't been updated. And the Blue Beret is printed so far in advance it's hard to adjust.

Pendaries in Ruidoso area was for August, but as someone pointed out there were maintenance issues. So Ruidoso in August was moved to Circle B. September rally is (I think) supposed to be in Oklahoma now. Changes and adjustments are hard to get published on short notice.

I'm actually in the West Texas Unit, but we talk with Texas Plains and Top-O-Texas all the time. I'm hoping to get something scheduled in your area for next summer. How is Angel Fire in August?

Ashley Coco.

Super, except for this year, it seems. The big storm that blew down from the north pretty much wetted down all of Colorado and Northern New Mexico!
