Smile Still a newbie after all these posts!

Just curious, I'd like to know how many of the forum members here are also members of the wbbci?..I do not know anything about this club..are forum members here involved in rallies that are organized outside of this forum member group?..do they have an open forum as this is?

codybear,

I will start off, I am a WBCCI member, we are going to an El Camino Real Unit rally at Malibu RV park in November (the unit has about nine rallies per year) and there is a forum at WBCCI.org although it just started and has about 500 registered members.

The member list has a column regarding WBCCI membership.

You should visit their website www.wbcci.org

Many forums members are wbcci members. The wbcci organizes rallies and activities amd has other functions. I don't know how many members we have here, but many of our most active posters are also wbcci members. It's all aluminum - it's all good.

Hi Bill,

Ok, thnx for a good starting point to learn about the wbbci..my husband and I will be going to the NorCal Rally, our first one, and I'm looking forward to meeting members from the forum..perhaps some of them are wbcci members also who will share their experiences in the club..When we first brought our Safari to our home, we were greeted w/in a week by a guy who drove up, wanting to ask us about joining this other club: VAC..guess that's another one to learn about too!

codybear,

The VAC is an intra club of WBCCI. We are also members of the VAC. To be a full member you must own an Airstream at least 25 years old (in addition to being a WBCCI member), that would mean 1982 or older. Their website is airstream.org, it has a wealth of information on vintage trailers, an email list and pdf files of past newsletters. There have been several threads here about the VAC it is a very active club. The Rocky Mountain group has a rally each year.

hi cb...

i'm a member too...as already noted many of us here are...

visit the wbcci threads here that are still open to read...lots of info on the wbcci.
just pick a few short threads first...
and avoid the 'name change' ones without booze!

i agree visit the wbcci.org site too....to learn about the wb...and all the club options....

the vac is an intraclub of wbcci....gotta join wbcci first 2 join the vac....

so club dues, unit dues, vac dues....and you'll be all hooked up.

bill sounds like he is in a great unit in socal...there are others on your coast too.

cheers

Yep, I'm a member of WBCCI too. Differant Units have differant personalities. Shop around your area and you'll find a group that you'll like.

Thnx wkerfoot, Janet, moosetags, Going, and 2air.. seems the Region 12 would be the one for me to join, or can I join any one in the region??.. So my next question: what types of activities make it worthwhile for you to belong to the club?

Activities: Camping, Travel, meeting new folks and making new friends. Seeing new places. Having adventure. All the reasons that inspired you to get an Airstream.

You are not limited to Region 12. Others will tell you about that.

What happened to the Pooch? He's such a cute pup.

We are slao WBCCI members, although not VAC members. I got turned off the VAC after some VAC members informed me I "couldn't" put in a converter in our '63, and I "had" to repaint our Argosy in the factory original colors.

I hate that attitude also. It is your trailer not theirs. That approach is only necessary if you want to win a 100% original contest.

I have never run into a VAC member that was hardlined enough to drive away a potential member over a converter upgrade! Most encourage vintage trailer owners to whatever they can to keep the oldies on the road and respect the creativity of their owners in upgrading the function of their trailers. Obviously, some trailers are better suited candidates for authentic restorations while others have falled into such a state of disrepair that that is not feasible and a gut & redo it totally in line - and encouraged - in order to make a trailer roadworthy.

Personally, I think the only time it is justified to being a little more fanatical is if it is a rare, very early model, in original & good working condition and the owner just wants to gut it for the heck of it to turn it into a studio. There are other candiadate trailers that should be considered for that sort of thing IMO. It would be much more appreciated by most VAC members it's original condition, at least for outward appearance sake. Even at International, the Concours d'Elegance judges award special recognition for "Best Engineered Feature"...hardly a group that discourages modernization.

I really hope you give the VAC in your area another chance ~ they are a great source of fellowship for those of use with advanced cases of aluminitus!

Oh, BTW...I'm a member!

There are 13 Units in Region 12 to choose from. If none of those "fit" there are Regions 1-11 to check out as well! Not to mention MAL.

WBCCI Regions/Units

MAL is Member At Large. This means no unit affiliation. I am one of these and and content to be so. Gee I guess you could call me a MALcontent!
