Save Wally Closed!

Save Wally has been closed!

It was one thing being booted from Defend Wally but another entirely to have the main site and forum archives of years of Save Wally just gone this morning without notice. There must be something in the get a WBCCI position celebratory Kool-aid that is affecting people's judgments.

Maybe liability in your re-posting of others private emails?

It should be noted that defend wally is also not available either so I would say Carol is off the hook.

I think Tim just got fed up with all the diatribe on SW with Carols post perhaps being the straw...........and cut 'em both.

I haven't spoke to him so it's just a guess.

While I still can't access either of the sites I am getting a different error message on save wally than before.

Is it possible we are jumping to premature conclusions here and something else is the problem?
At this point there do not seem to be any one with actual information as to closure.

The official Save Wally site has the message "this site is now closed." Tim is the web master and has closed the sites down presumably for the reasons he has mentioned previously. He discussed closing down the site with me and Leo when he returned from BM. He was seriously thinking about shutting down Save Wally and everything else because he was very disappointed at the back and forth on the forums. He thought it kills everything that had been done up to this point. One could easily see his point. It has been nasty.

Waiting for announcements? Get in line...

I missed that as I was using a bookmark that took me directly to the forum rather than the opening page.

I can't disagree with Tim's opinion although I hope this is simply a breather.
It seems everything we have been trying to accomplish, and were moving toward has blown up in the last month or so.
I would like to see things get back on track toward getting Leo back in the club and keeping him there. While the current direction may accomplish some goals, I don't see that being one of them.
All the name calling, while understandable has undone a lot that had been accomplished prior to this change in direction.

Tim has the ball on both sites and will play it as he wishes. Tim wants the best for the club and VAC and has put in a lot of his time into making the format available for meaningful thought and interaction. Recent events on the sites do not look like they are headed in a positive direction.

It's just a darn shame to be hobbled by one "insider" after all the efforts and campaigns withstood in the past. Also those forums were the last unmoderated haven to make a case and espect it would stand. I am very sorry to see it go. I believe Leo is still alive and kicking perhaps he can maintain it from here on if he still choses to try to make a difference despite opposition.

working backwardz....

c' your new tag line isn't a quote from john brown, of this i am sure.

although the thunderbolt part IS pure john b. as we knew him.
_______

b'cup is in a peculiar position now,

after SO MUCH beeeechn bout the wb site owner and WHO controller the info there.

and the MULTIPLE attempts to hijack or bring THAT SITE down...

and the offerings to GIVE the wb' a real site,

the sw site goes down?

just because the principles were eating each others heads?

the poets will view this poetically.
_________

sadly this MIGHT mean even more of this crap comes here,

and one can't help but think the old standby wb'ers

are hoisting a cool one to all of this drama.
________

so CLEARLY we need action

to SAVE arf from this collateral damage, and here it is...

i am starting the savesavewallysite.

that's right a site to save, savewally.

since we all need savin sometime, even devout savewally-ites.

it will take just a tiny b'oGREEN to get her rollin...

so send n a small cash offering, whatever u can o'ford...

ok 100 bucks u.s. , nothin less.

once the money starts rollin n, the SAVEsavewally site will go live.

IF we need 2 sue'em we will

once the finds are at 10,000$ cash in hand.

so pick up yer check buk and do the right thang.
________

lastly, i wonder C if you hadn't started this thread...

how LONG it might have been b4 savers noticed the savin' site was lost?

cheers

Well I don't know John Brown's baby from day camp to James Brown in High School at the prom but it sure sounded good to me!

I probably wouldn't have seen SW being gone this morning had it not been for Bob's last post to call us a bunch of bipolar idiots after the IP's letter was posted so I made it a point to check out the forum this morning to see if everyone agreed with Bob or not and whether along with Mary Hartman I needed to seek out therapy.

The savesavewally site is a good idea but now since many of us may find ourselves strapped for cash we may have to put on a fund raiser for the fund raiser. A bake sale might be the perfect venue since so many of the WBCCI idears for raising revenue have all been half-baked. Thanks 2Air.

seriously does THIS look like a guy who'd say that specific quote?

u can read more about him AND that misquote here...

John Brown the Abolitionist: A Biographer's Blog: January 2010

a very quick search suggests david paul brown a philadelphia lawyer and poet is a more likely source...

or maybe it was willie nelson.

cheers

Maybe it is just simply a matter of Wally can't be saved.
