What's to fight?
Many members are fed up with many of the WBCCI's recent actions and behavior's.
Accordingly, many of those members resigned, and want to start their own club.
WBCCI does not own the name Airstream. Therefore they cannot object to it's use.
Airstream could object, but I am of the opinion, that they would be supportive, as they are of many things, which are supportive of them.
This site is one of those supportive efforts by Airstream. I chatted with Larry Huttle, before Airstream got involved, about this Forums. Since this was new to them, the big question was "what if"?
My answer was that the Forums would be extremely valueable to many Airstream owners if for no other reason than basic exchanging of information. That being the case, in turn, it would also be very valueable to Airstream, and Airstreaming.
Bottom line?
The Airforums has provided more help and advertising for airstream's products, than Airstream could have ever imagined, and all without any costs, to them.
The Forums has become a win, win, win and win situation.
A win for Airstream.
A win for Andy R.
A win for Airstream owners.
And a win for some Airstream dealers who chose to participate and be supportive.
So, who cares if the club is upset. They had the choice of providing all those "wins" too.
Instead, the IBT, supported themselves, and basically ignored, for most part, the wishes of it's members and of Airstream dealers. Not always, but, all too often.
Why did Airstream, several years ago, withdraw support from the club. Those reasons, today, are obviously apparent to many members, who don't need to have a book written about it, and in simple terms, simply want to belong to a club, that is reasonably run, and is ever mindful that's it's members joined to have fun, with others and their Airstream.
That's what the club was all about, many years ago.
Sadly, in many respects, today it's.......................?
Wally, hang in there. There will be a day, once again, that clubbing with an Airstream will be a great joy to many many Airstream product owners.
It will take some time, and effort, but the hand writing is not only on the walls, but on many mental billboards across our great country.
Wally, most of us have been proud to be associated with you, even though most of us have never met you. Your name, carries the highest of respect and esteem, with most of us.
New efforts are underway, to renew that proudness and to enlist many more newcomers as well.
Have faith, Wally, in this new effort. The promise is that you will be very proud, as it surfaces and progresses.
