The voting system seems to me to be seriously flawed. My unit had there business meeting a month ago. Those present voted to endorse the nominating committees slate with only one dissenting vote (mine). At this point I do not know if the delegate can even cast a portion of the votes for some one running from the floor. At any rate it does not appear to me my views will be represented and i would support Hitler and Attila the Hun for nominating committee just to vote against the candidates running.
Since there were no candidates other than the official ones no mail voting was done.
Likewise there are motions coming before the IBT which were not even known at the time of our meeting so we have no input into any of this.

Contact your delegate and provide him (or her) information on your vote. Tell them you wish they would cast it (and all the additional votes apportioned to it) for the candidates from the floor that you prefer. I would also copy your alternate delegate. Make your wishes very clear.

Our unit had only one vote and that was to place our full confidence in our delegate. We had a long discussion in which we expressed our unhappiness with the current state of affairs. The vote was unanimous.

Matt,

That is good news, as I recall, your unit is one of the largest.

You are correct. We have approximately 320 votes.

I hope that all of you, who are as disgusted with next years nominating committee as I am, are writing the international and your region officers about your opinion.

If you are satisfied, then tell them that.

In case no one has mentioned it yet, the DENCO Unit voted to allow their delegate to vote for anyone running from the floor.

right to dissent

Dissent and Protest

The right to dissent is the complement of the right to speak, but these rights need not occupy the same forum at the same time. The speaker is entitled to communicate her or his message to the audience during her or his allotted time, and the audience is entitled to hear the message and see the speaker during that time. A dissenter must not substantially interfere with a speaker’s ability to communicate or an audience’s ability to see and hear the speaker. When a meeting is closed, dissent by non-attendees is limited to activity outside the meeting that does not impede access to the meeting or substantially interfere with the communication inside. When a meeting is open, the acceptable form of dissent will depend on whether the dissenter is inside or outside the meeting and on whether the dissenter is acting before, after or during the meeting.

Silent or Symbolic Protest
Displaying a sign, wearing significant/symbolic clothing, gesturing, standing, or otherwise protesting noiselessly is acceptable unless the protest interferes with the audience’s view or prevents the audience from paying attention to the speaker. Any use of signs, prolonged standing or other activity likely to block the view of anyone in the audience should be confined to the back of the room.

I believe there are black ribbons that can be attached to the WBCCI badges and have been distributed and supplied by Nuvite of Ohio that state, "Reinstate Leo."

Noise
Responding vocally to the speaker, spontaneously and temporarily, is generally acceptable, especially if reaction against the speaker is similar in kind and degree to reaction in his or her favor. Chanting or making other sustained or repeated noise in a manner which substantially interferes with the speaker’s communication is not permitted, whether inside or outside the meeting.

I hope the attendants give them an earful at the meeting when your expulsion is announced or grievances addressed.

Audience Responsibility
The audience, like the host and the speaker, must respect the right to dissent. A member of the audience or the host organization who substantially interferes with acceptable dissent is violating these guidelines in the same way as a dissenter who violates the rights of the speaker or audience.

I wish I was able to be in attendance at Gillette this year but I could not travel that far nor incur the higher rally fees this year because of recession economics. Leo I hope you have plenty of supporters there in the field to make their discontent known and stop this foolish code of ethics gag order put out to silence the membership. I think it's a raw deal and a dirty shame to be honest with you. I can't see spending my money to support the likes of that kind of leadership that micromanages members' opinions and collects information from web searches on various members from separate forums to use discriminating against them. Big Brother is Big Bother, if you ask me. Let them make their own revenue and travel and applaud themselves on their own collective dues!!! However the treasury belongs to the members of WBCCI and NOT to the leadership and I hope your lawsuit is successful in protecting the club's assets from a relatively few shameful self serving leaders at the top of the IBT, who discredit the entire organization and send current and future members fleeing their vacinity as fast as they can be heard or seen.

Send a message via Skype™ to Buttercup
This is region 9 leadership??? This is what WBCCI is all about??? No wonder membership is dropping. With people like this, what incentive is there to join this group?
People are upset at you because threy don't like your message, or perhaps the way it is presented. But the content of the message is in fact spot on IMHO. The club is dissolving financially. And it is the leadership who is running the ship aground.
Leo, maybe people don't like your New York way of dealing with issues, but this action, and WBCCI's response to it, is inappropriate. The response from "Doug & Sheryl W" is cold and unforgiving. In fact, it is not an apology at all, but a statement of regret for a lost bottle of tea.
This is the image of WBCCI? Really?

Leo,

I work on 'some of the most expensive RVs on the road' and let me tell you that the Airstreams that the WBCCI's self-aggrandized leadership are so proud if are located somewhere in the middle of the pack....AT BEST!

You want to see some of these 'most expensive RV's? Check out any Prevost, Newell Coach, Monaco Signature or Executive, Beaver Marquise, Tiffin Zephyr, Newmar King Air or Essex and others of this class. These are truly some of the MOST EXPENSIVE AND LUXURIOUS RV's!!!!

Airstream motor homes are nice, but are NOWHERE near the league that this group is in.

More evidence of the bubble that they seem to live in.

I think all the "lowly" members should be given Vuvuzelas and use them when all the wylies, colliers, heydes speak. We don't need no stinking "good" iced tea to show
our displeasure.

Thanks for the plug, Carol, and just wanted to let everyone know they are still available in accordance with the original offer http://www.airforums.com/forums/f286...ons-63233.html

Several hundred are in circulation and I fondly hope that some of them are in evidence at Gillette to lend a sense of disquiet to the Executive Committee, a quiet little voice inside telling them they made a Big Mistake.

Cheers,
Nuvi

Thumbs up

Nuvi I hope they do! I think the ribbons were a stroke of genius. I only wish I was there to wear mine but perhaps they will become a symbolic and timeless reminder of things gone awry just as you say. That was very nice of you to do that at your own expense. I think Leo should have some people in his corner after all the energy and work he has put into trying to improve the WBCCI. I am certain he appreciates others' efforts on his behalf. The one part of the meeting today on grievance or gripe was hurried through and they were onto the next order of business quickly.
