Those numbers are assigned to the people though and not a specific trailer, right?

The ghost numbers 10656 are on the back of my Bambi II. Any history available on these numbers? I sent a request to the WBCCI and they have no information on this number.

In 1970 the number was assigned to a couple in Cheyenne WY
The number also appears in my 1982-2006 directories to a couple from Ventura CA
There were no caravans listed for either couple in the directories I have.

Hi, I'm half of the couple from Idaho Falls, Idaho, and we still have the number: 2000-2012 so far. We hope to have it much longer still...

Hi Mike,
Remember we met at the Intnl last summer? You were kind enough to loan us the manual for your Overlander for us to copy since we had just acquired a 64 Overlander, we really appreciate that: thanks again and another congrats on your win in the competition--well deserved.
To topic: would love to know who had #2948 in 1959, it is a 1959 Overlander with dbl axles and the International (globe) badges, and if there were any caravans. Seems like with that heavier setup, the owners might have been planning some caravans. Thanks!

Mary & I are in Florida for a few weeks and don't have our old directories with us. If someone else hasn't responded by the time I get home, I will be happy to look it up for you.

That is interesting, I was told by the WBCCI office that the number was not currently assigned to anyone. They have reserved the number for me as they are currently processing my membership package.

Hi Vivian,
I responded to your email inquiry outside of Airforums earlier today. Don't remember the details, but #2948 was first assigned in 1959 to a couple from Salt Lake City, Utah. That couple (and #2948) is listed as having participated on the 1960 European caravan, so it is almost a certainty that a 1959 Overlander International bearing the old number 2948 was itself on the 1960 European Caravan!

Wow! I was so excited to read your email, Joe! It is so completely awesome to think that that Overlander was on the European caravan; I'm going to see if I can find photos from the caravan that might show 2948 and try to close the gaps in its history. Thanks a lot; I'll redouble my efforts to wrest it from the hands of the foreclosers!

I do apologize, some times my fingers move faster than my brain. I could claim old farts disease but that is a pretty lame excuse.

Awchief,
I can forgive anyone who has a '64 Bambi (sigh). And besides, you're not the only one with OFD; I was so worried at the idea of losing 8796 because it took the first six years of membership to remember what the danged number was! No telling how long it would take to remember a new one.... I'll bet aluminum on the brain has a lot to do with it. LOL
See you at the International in Sedalia? I'd love to see your Bambi.
