Thanks in advance.
I have pm'd you some info.

Thanks to the others for stepping up on the research. This has been a crazy busy summer and I haven't been to Airforums very frequently and when I visit I haven't had the time to research #'s in my old Membership Directories. Maybe things will eventually slow down and I can get back to helping with this task.

P.S. And since I am writing, let me ask that people who are asking for information take the time to provide a little information in their request, like what year and model Airstream they have, how long owned, etc. This allows the responder to limit the amount of time they need to spend reading old Directories looking for information. By the way, some requests are nice a detailed and some are not.

I will admit that I am less inclined to respond to "one liners" like "How about some info on ####". If the requester cannot take a couple of minutes to provide a little detail, why should I take much longer looking up information for them, when some of that information might be useless (e.g. about years before their trailer was made, etc.).

Thanks for understanding.

The number is not in the current 2011 Directory.

Best bet is to contact Deb Mann the membership director at Home Office.

Rally information? #198

Number 198 was not in the 1960 directory, so the Gopperts apparently dropped out in 1959. By 1966 the number was re-assigned to Dr. & Mrs. Davis.

In the early years numbers were re-assigned, and that is what appears to have happend here. The title of Dr. might have been the motivator.
Do any of the records show who attended the various rallies over the years? i think it would be interesting to know which rallies the original owners attended and some of the places our trailers have been.

Any info on 8458? That's the number on the 31ft 1980 Excella we adopted last December. We bought it from a dealer in Michigan and I do know the names of the most recent owners, but not sure if the number belonged to them or was already on the trailer when they bought it. We just (last week) joined WBCCI, and the number was available, so now it officially belongs to Susan and Randy Palmer, Ocean View, DE !!

Maybe it's a "lucky" number, considering our trailer is in excellent shape--at least compared to some of the horror stories I've heard. I'm even becoming fond of the fake wood-grain cabinets and fittings--and the no longer "sticky" beige/white walls!

Thanks for your help!
Sue

Hi Sue

Welcome to the club and hope you enjoy your membership.

I only have one listing within 10 years of your 1980 trailer.

It is from the 1982 directory

Boyd & Elizabeth Johannes
Ann Arbor MI
No caravans

Wish there was more.

Thanks Mike! What a helpful person you are! Would it be usual for someone to leave the numbers on for almost 30 years with out belonging to WBCCI? Just doesn't seem like good Karma to us.

Take Care, travel safely--and thanks and THANKS again!

Keeping the numbers on cuts down on the number of wbcci members trying to recruit you to membership. Only 10% of Airstream owners are currently members of the club.

If I could attach to this thread, I also would be interested in finding out more on my AS. '70 Safari shows 2 sets of ghost numbers and WBCCI sticker. What I can make out is #2643 & #1642. The owners manual has the Registration of Ownership as Osmund G. Butler of Seattle. Registered Oct 10 1970.
Thanks for any info.

I would appreciate a little information on my 1967 Caravel, with the # 9872. They are well worn and barely visible. I believe I am the third owner. Purchased from Robert Savage, Mr. Savage bought in 1993 from Murray O Frissell or Fussell. Thanks for your efforts!
