My 1965 and 1968 Directories list Benard Woodruff, from Michigan, as the owner of 9872 in that year. We can not say that he owned a Caravel at some point. It is likely that he did not and there were no caravans listed after their names. Less that 10% of our current members participate in Nationally numbered caravans.

Thanks Streamer23. The info for 2643 obviously fits but I'll have to look closer at the other number. Maybe the number belongs to another organization? Even though it wasn't involved in any rallies, (that would have been cool ), its fantastic having people like yourself helping with the history of these American icons.

Hello! I am new here to this forum. I just purchased a 1964 Aristream Trade Wind. I began doing some research that led me here to this forum. Learning any information about my new trailer is very interesting to me! I can see two ghost images of 2 WBCCI stickers and numbers that overlap. The original number is 16690, and the overlap number is 27299. I couldn't find a database anywhere online of the numbers. If you could look them up I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi
Here is what I found
#27299
This number is not listed is any of my directories.I don't have any directories from the 1970's.It was issued around 1973 to someone in North Carolina.
#16690
1968-1985
James & Dorothy Campbell
Winston-Salem NC
Caravans listed
#52-Mexico-Winter 1967
#56-Western Mexico-Winter 1968
#67-Eastern Canada-Summer-1969
Not much but hope it helps.
Someone with a directory in the 1970's may be able to give you a little more info on #27299

Wow! Thank you for the info! That is awesome. It makes sense, because there is the original dealer decal on the side that is a dealer in North Carolina.

#16690 was first assigned in 1966, but would have first been listed in the 1967 Directory (membership as of 12/31/1966). Unfortunately I don't have a 1967 Directory, but assume it would be assigned to the Campbells since they are listed for a 1967 caravan.
#27299 was first assigned in 1972 and first appears in the 1973 Directory, when it was assigned to Charles and Hazel McDowell of High Point, NC. The McDowells are last listed in the 1981 Directory, still in High Point NC, no caravans.
I would thus speculate that your '64 Tradewind was originally owned by the Campbells and likely they sold it to the McDowells in about 1972, at which time I assume the McDowells joined WBCCI and the Campbells may have upgraded to a newer Airstream. It's great that your Tradewind has some caravan history. Enjoy it!

AS "pedigree" history from WBCCI...
I think WBCCI is missing out on a HUGE potential to provide "pedigree" history of each trailer that it has in it's database.
I know the numbers were assigned to owners rather than to trailers, but WBCCI could use the trailer serial numbers it has (that was used to document trailer-to-owner), and re-create a documented history of each trailer. People would actually pay money to know the previous owners (last) names, and where the trailer was located, as well as all of the documented rallies that the owners attended (hence the trailer "attended").
Too bad it's too much "work" for WBCCI to do this. Everyone I know wants to know the history of their AS.
WBCCI is "stepping over a dime to get to a nickel".
Maybe someone in Airforums has some "pull" with WBCCI, and could encourage them to consider this.

I recently stumbled upon an Airstream and wanted to get some more info on it. It has the WBCCI number 10375 on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also is there any way to find out from the number the year and model? I cant get close enough to get a serial number unfortunately.
Thanks again.

Looking for info on our WBCCI number of our '67 Caravel - please.
We purchased our "new" old trailer last May in Illinois. It has the ghost number 216. We were told it was owned by Mr. Mann of Mann's Airstream Dealership and he went on caravan trips.
Thank you for your help!

I talk with WBCCI HQ frequently and truly believe that they did not retain those records. I think the application forms are discarded as soon as the serial number is verified, so there is no ongoing record of Airstream serial numbers. Not to mention those of us that currently own or have owned several Airstreams. The serial number of record would only be the first one when one joined. Members are not required to provide updated serial numbers when they change Airstreams.
And as for caravan rosters, the club has not kept records for the majority of caravans run over the years. Given that they have run thousands of caravans, that would have been a big task.
The only significant caravan records are what is published after each members name in the annual membership directory. In this case, I have checked and no electronic version exists for years prior to the current year. The only way to check prior years is to search paper copies of the Membership Directory manually. I and a few others on this forum each have a selection of Membership Directories and we do look information up as our time permits.
Sorry. It may have been good to keep the records you suggest as the years went by, had they thought of it years ago, but there is no easy way to recreate that data at the current time.
