Subvert from within.

Run for office and work your way up the chain. You are probably younger than the current international leaders. You will get there.

Introduce motions to:

Stop paying for anybody but the International President's International Rally fee's.

End special parking.

End any other perks that cost money but only reward the elite. Etc.

There is no rule, bylaw or amendment that cannot be deleted or modified.

Use smaller battles to build the base and gain a voting bloc and voting power.

Unfocused anger and disgust serve no purpose and allow the status quo to continue.

Lay out a plan and and a strategy. The soap box and then the ballot box.

It's up to me/us/you to protect and steward our club into the future.
Good idea, problem is, I join a club to have fun, not do more work. I do enough work at work.

If you request a refund before the end of December do they have to do it?

If folks don't have the time or inclination to be part of change. The cause is lost.

Excuses have never carried the day.

In addition to the 25 motions in the original post, motion #26 has recently been added to the agenda. This motion was proposed by the New Mexico Unit and approved at the Region 11 business meeting several months ago. This motion calls for the reduction of the number of regions we currently have and the elimination of the 3rd VP. It also restructures the International Rally and puts it in the hands of the Regions.

It's really unfortunate that the New Mexico motion wasn't included in the big document because I feel it's the most important and substantive one I've seen in a long time. (When it came before the region, I did have some concerns about certain details of the motion, though those are secondary to its main impact.)

Proceedures question.

Im not clear on how this plays out. Were these motions made at the winter meeting for vote at the international meeting, or are they to be decided upon at the winter meeting?

Who votes on the motions? units, regions, the IBT, elves in a hollow tree?

These motions are on the agenda for the winter meeting of the IBT next month. Most of the motions came directly from members of the IBT while others started at the unit level.

Since they are changes to the by laws and not the constitution they will be voted on by the members of the IBT.

So I gather the chances of #26 passing is fairly slim. That is a double disappointment as I was also rooting for the elves

I'm not that completely sure that 26 wouldn't at least result in some serious discussion. It was, after all, brought up through the unit and supported at the Region 11 meeting.

I would not give up on this motion. I think it is going to draw a lot of attention at different levels of the club. It is the only motion that offers a realistic solution to cutting costs. The IBT includes 12 Region Presidents, it would be helpful if members contacted their Region President and let them know that they support the motion. I personally do not think it goes far enough, but it is a good start.

Pontiac Silverdome

Instead of a $100,000.00+ dollar in the "RED" International Rally and Lord only knows what was spent, the WBCCI should have purchased the "Pontiac Silverdome" in Pontiac, Michigan! The Pontiac Silverdome is a domed stadium located in the city of Pontiac, Michigan. It sits on 127 acres. At only $583,000.00 it was a steal! We could have had a permanent International Rally location, could have been rented out for over events, and you know they had enough power for every trailer in the WBCCI, seats 18,000 for WBCCI growth.

I think the juice of the proposal is in some of the details in the discussion below the list of collapsed regions.

For instance, the proposal indicates that "Region Officers will be expected to visit each of their units once during their 4 years of reimbursable travel." However, consider the shere size of the new western region, encompassing California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. Granted, some of these states don't have a large number of units, but some of them do. And the distances involved are very considerable. I wouldn't want to be a region officer for that area!

Another example is that the International Board travel would be "limited to" region rallies or similarly large events. There's a lot left unsaid here. Is the board required to attend these rallies? What rally, if any, would these folks be required to attend (remembering that members' dues foot the bill for required travel to a rally). If they aren't required to attend, then wouldn't it perhaps follow that reimbursement for non-required attendance should also be eliminated?

Finally, I am concerned about this point: "The current International Rally would be phased into one of the Region Rallies by rotation unless a Region declines to be designated as an International Rally Host" (underlining by me). If a given region decides against hosting the international, then there are all sorts of less than pretty implications that might follow.

I'd prefer that the region hosting the International hold it over the July 4th week.

Easier for everyone since everyone knows when it will be.
