Production Numbers on Front and Back?

When did Airstream stop the practice? I have a '67 and don't think it ever had a production number painted on the exterior. If it did I'll repaint it if not I sure don't want to cross any lines of Airstream etiquette. (That might be akin to putting beans in chili).

Probably Not Production Numbers

Are the numbers you are referring to the large red numbers approximately 5" tall. that are seen above the front and back windows?

Yes, those numbers. I'm not sure what they are called.

Big Red Numbers

Those numbers are WBCCI club I.D. numbers that were assigned to a previous owner.

It is not a foo pah to remove them prior to polishing. Some people request the same numbers when they join WBBCI so that they don't need to replace them.

It's your trailer ... there are no written rules about what you do with it.

It's interesting to ask others not familiar with A/S what those red numbers are. I also considered them some type of production numbering.....thought it was strange that a manufacturer would mess up such a pretty trailer with those ugly red numbers. I thought that those without numbers were owned by smart folks who took them off after they bought their trailers .

Oh well.....still haven't put mine on yet.
