NPR is calling me tomorrow morning

Anyone know how many trailers will be at Bozeman? I don't want to misspeak.

Sorry, don't know - but hey, tell us when we should be listening. I'd love to tune in.

Michael,

The count will not be known until the end of the Rally. There are many attendees who register at the Rally. If you have time, you might call WBCCI headquarters in Jackson Center and see if they will tell you how many are preregistered. I believe that there were about 1100 at Salem and about 1100 at Perry.

I've heard attendance is below 1000 this year...somewhere around 925-950 are expected. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of recent cancellations due to gas prices.

I think NPR should be told of the cancellations as soon as possible. That's the type of story NPR does well with.

I can not count the number of times National Public Radio has caught me off-guard with a true story such as this.

I'll just go with "1,000" and be vague. If they want to talk to me more, I can dial in the actual numbers when we get more details.

I just heard a report that there are about 840 preregistered for the International.

Bill, thanks for the number. I'm curious to see how many cancellations there are, and the final tally.

NPR will be calling me on Friday or Saturday, to record my observations. I'm getting anxious to get on the road. This is going to be fun.

Cheers!

bevman on NPR from Bozeman

Liane Hansen on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday Morning just did a cool interview with bevman from Bozeman. It is located almost 50 minutes into one of the two hours (2nd hour here in CDT zone). It's shortly after the NY Times Will Shortz puzzle segment. It should be available for online listening later this morning - Weekend Edition Sunday : NPR (does that require Real Player? ).

BTW, the weather has got to be quite mild for International this year. Thanks Wally!

NPR Sunday

Just listened to the story on NPR interviewing Bevman. he did a great job and all should check out the prior link and give it a listen.

He even had Liane Hansen giggling about the sea of shiny aluminum blinding the local onlookers.

Thanks Bevman!

Great to hear the NPR piece this morning...............

Hi Michael,
I was sitting in my 19 ft Bambi this morning, in Staunton, Virginia , drinking my morning brew and listening to Weekend Edition Sunday. It was great to hear your comments from the WBCCI rally in Bozeman. Most excellent !
Loved your parting comment to Liane Hansen.
Cheers

They announced the total last night--869 units in attendance. Earlier I heard that there were over 200 cancellations. Most of the cancellations were not fuel price related. Lots of medical problems this year. Two people even died on the way here!

I pitched the story for their "summer adventure" series, since I thought that MY summer adventure would be interesting. Apparently, they did too. When the techs were dialing in their levels, before taping, Lianne mentioned, "When I was a child of 9, in 1958, I thought that the Airstream trailers were THE HEIGHT OF COOL..."

Well, Lianne is pretty cool, in her own right.
