Those of you that are WBCCI members have probably received October’s issue by now, did you read page 10? The article called “Special Committee for Long Range Planning” just boils my blood. The leadership of the IBT wants to put together a committee to look 5-10-even 15 years down the road. They want people to submit a resume and a cover letter stating their goals and objectives for this committee and the IBT will pick the best 5 for the job. Now there will be the “Chosen Five”, blessed by the IBT and controlled by the IBT, boy that will generate “new” ideas!
This committee’s first task is to set their own goals and objectives, then work on the long range plan, WRITE A WBCCI MISSION STATEMENT, and determine or core values and Goals! Didn’t we do this once, twice three times already? Don’t they have enough ideas, hey IBT read these Forums!
What a waste, time is running and the IBT is putting together a committee to keep from making a decision on change, change that everyone is crying for. I say put a committee together now, volunteers not resumes, take as many as you can get, focus on today not 15 years from now, and make a damn decision already.
Gee, this one sounds like a replacement for the now defunct Advisory Committee that was started up last year - except with a lot more "controls". Why not just keep that one rolling instead of reinventing the wheel again!

OK I know I'm going to start something here but here goes. I'm a newbie with a new AS coming in a few weeks. After reading alot of threads I think the negatives far outweigh the positives when it comes to WBCCI membership. So here's the question, as someone with no history or loyalty to the club yet why would I join?

Brian,
Because you want to meet other Airstream owners and the members of the local unit are fun to be around. I have found that with the El Camino Real, South Coast and Four Corners units as well as the Vintage Airstream Club.

That's good enough for me!! I am looking forward to joining and meeting the NEU. I guess I don't want a situation that makes "my blood boil". That doesn't sound like fun which is all I'm looking for. If I wanted boiling I'll go to work!! HaHa

WBCCI is the "official" Airstream Club. We like being a part of it even if we don't always agree on everything that the club leadership does. We like to have the opportunity to attend various Regional and Unit events at our choosing. We don't care for the format of the International Rally, but may of the local events are great. We also enjoy meeting other Airstreamers. There are some really great people in WBCCI.
Last, but not least, we think that the BIG RED NUMBERS are way cool. An Airstream looks naked without them.

As usual, Bill has it exactly right.
Here's mrs. mistral blue and mistral blue, jr. taking part in the NEU experience at the last rally 2 weeks ago. For us, this is what it's all about. Airstreams, campfires and having fun. Right now, the NEU is having another great rally in Mystic, CT.

Looking forward to meeting you soon Brian!
That's exactly what we're looking for!! We'll just steer clear of the unwanted stuff. We're very much looking forward to joining the NEU and meeting you too!!!!!
Ed, who pissed in your Cornflakes? Why is the WBCCI such a target for people bitching on this forum?
Some threads should be deleted by the mods for being of low quality, useless, you added nothing to this site, the WBCCI and you have not represented yourself as a mature person.
So Ed, come back and tell us, what value have you added to the WBCCI or this site with rants?
Jim, good luck, whatever.
PS. I need some help getting my red numbers straight, I'm in East Orlando.

" I need some help getting my red numbers straight,"
I was dragging my feet doing the numbers as well. Then I visited an AS park and saw that many people just put the numbers on a nice plaque. Often regular metal address numbers. So, I made such a plaque that I will prop over the front window when needed. Easy, and no worry about later removal.
