Counting Airstreams while on the road is how we decided to get our first one. Gee, let me think...I couldn't possibly be a "serious traveler" with only two Airstream travel trailers now could I?
Anybody have two+ Airstream motorhomes?

When my wife and I thought about seeing the USA by TT, we had no idea what to get or even how to do it. We visited several CGs, looking at what was "out there". We visited MANY dealerships to learn about TTs. The more we looked, the more we knew that an Airstream was in our future. We became the proud owners of a new 25' International SS OB on February 29th of this year (we'll always remember the date). We always looked for Airstreams when we visited CGs - and we NEVER saw one. Once we became the proud owner of one, we've tried to get out as often as possible - to learn how to live in it. We've spent about twenty nights on our new trailer during six or seven different trips and until our last one, we'd never run across another one. Then last weekend, while visiting one of Ohio's beautiful state parks, a new 23' International pulled in right across from us! We were surprised - our friends saw it pulling in and thought it must be us pulling out! And that same weekend, we saw, parked in the same state park, another one - a 1967 Airstream. And we all toured each others. AS owners are the most friendly, thoughful and helpful folks out there! Count on 'em when you need 'em (probably true of SOB owners also). There are AS out there - we went a long time before seeing any of them. Then, unexpectedly, there they were - two of them in the same park, besides us. Keep looking - if we saw them in multiples every time out, we'd get tired of looking - this way, the discovery of one makes the search worth while. We're anxious to see how many we run into on our upcoming 10 tour to historic Virginia - we'll be looking. See you all down the road.......

We made a "car trip" of about 1500 miles last week on family business. We bet that the person to see an Airstream first got a cup of free coffee from the other person.
She owes me three cups of coffee.
Of course I was driving, and she was snoozing, but I woke her up every time I saw an Airstream.
we saw one on our outing last week going east on I-90 in central wa. as we were west bound . flashing lights and a wave from them and us. reminds me of the old days in a brit sports car we always waved. seem like a good tradition to keep alive with airstreams as we are unique and small in numbers but have al in our blood
We often see one or two when heading out in the Lower Mainland of BC but when we travel the WA and OR coasts we tend to see several a day.
My brother who still resides in Lethbridge recently sent out a picture of an Airstream that was for sale there. I know there are quite a few in the Southern Alberta area as during our search we looked at probably 12 before we moved to the BC coast. All but one were used mostly for trips south in the winter and out to Waterton Lake and Wasa Lake for quick summer trips. The one was sitting forlornly in a friends pasture waiting for a buyer. We should have bought it ('66 Caravel if I remember right) but it just didn't seem big enough for us. Good thing too - back then WE were a LOT smaller than we are now. Oh Darn.
Why would anyone care how we use our Airstreams be they trailers or MoHo's, as long as we use them? Gosh Lew, to you this fellow must look like a significant underachiever with only six months of the year. Now - I need to deliver this load of cinder blocks over to Cameron that I'm taking out from under my trailer just now. It was getting just too darned hard to tow down the road and people were staring at us.

They are a rare sight in south central Kentucky unless you are on I-75 and spot the occasional one (very occasional). Better to be the best than common.
Barry, I think I'm going to have my contractor put in a concrete foundation fit to the perimeter of my trailer. Then I can take it off it's wheels, relieve the axles of undue stress, and have an usable crawlspace that can be insulated and heated during the winter months.

Sounds like a good plan Cameron. When you are using it temporarily for what you are it wouldn't hurt to have it off the wheels. Extra storage is always helpful and I suspect this is going to be a colder and whiter winter than we are typically used to.

I saw one on I-89 south of Burlington Vt last Saturday (8-23-08). It was headed north and on the higher level so only got a quick glance - maybe a Bambi. I commute on Rt 16 in NH which is an artery to the White Mountains - and have yet to see one. I was headed home (south) tonite and there were lots and lots of SOB trailers and some MH's headed north but no Airstreams.
