New AS owner curious about the number on his trailer

I've been told that the folks I got the trailer from are the second owners. Curious if the number on the trailer is their's or the original owner. Is anyone able/willing to check the number for us?

#3966
'72 Trade Wind from SoCal

What's the norm - if we join can we keep the old number?

Thanks folks, this forum has just been terrific!

According to a 2007 directory I had close by the trailer # belonged to:
Stan and Phylis Pintarich, 1517 tumbleweed Turn, Sisters, OR 97759-9652

We are on the road and only have the current directory, so I can't help you with the previous owner. Streamer23 on the forums has an extensive collection of old directories and may be able to tell you.

You can request an old number if it isn't in use. But 3966 is currently in use as of 2010. Sorry 'bout that!

Cheers,
Nuvi

Nuvi Well, we'd better peel the number off so no one gets us mixed up! LOL

Thanks Rick, interesting to know. That makes sense, I forgot that the PO lived in Oregon for a while.

Thanks!

Keeping them on will stop the recruiter type people from bothering you about joining the club so it may be a benefit.

No need. There are plenty of duplicate numbers on Airstreams. If you look at the participants of this forum you will see several with multiple Airstreams--all bearing the same WBCCI number!

And like dwightdi said, they're protective coloration against recruiters.

Having been around the WBCCI since 1955 (my Dad joined when I was 6 years old), I would highly recommend joining.

You will meet some great people, and an added benefit is that if you have an active number on your trailer, you will always have help from a fellow Caravaner. I always stop to check on a fellow Streamer if it appears that help is needed. However, I am reluctant to stop and help just anyone.

It's a dangerous world out there!

Congratulations, and enjoy your Airstream.

I know Stan & Phylis and they are still active members in our Oregon Unit. I will tell them I know where there 72' is. There are some really fun units down in your area with lots of vintage rigs. Have fun with your Airstream.

I would think any Airstreamer would stop to help another no matter what the colors or even if the trailer was bare! From the number of trailers I have seen while on the road, there aren't that many of us.

amazing. it took 5 whole replies to bash the WBCCI.

I'm betting just about everyone would stop anyone in need. Just human nature.

At this weekends Metro Detroit rally, I told a newbie:

"The Airstreams got you here. The people will make you stay."

I sincerely hopes that always stays true. Especially on this forum.

Grand Master said "fellow Streamer", not "fellow WBCCI Member". He is an Airstreamer thru and thru that happens to also be a club member. I'm sure he'd stop even if the trailer sported blue numbers, as would almost any Airstreamer.

Wow!!!!
Some people sure have negative attitudes.

Of course I stop and help an Airstreamer in need. While traveling to Arches National Park there was a nice young couple with a cute 66 Safari stopped on the side of the road with their hood up. It was hot and they had overheated. I had a great conversation with them and made sure they were alright before heading on. They didn't have Red Numbers, but I sure told them about the fun I had as a kid (and now as a recently retired guy) Airstreaming.

I only made a positive statement in this thread about the benefits of the WBCCI, and never intended to imply anything else. In fact, it is a benefit to have red numbers when traveling. People are more inclined to help people they feel they have a connection with. You can also look them up in the directory before you get out of the car, so you already know something about them.

I also stop to help anyone with a Masonic emblem on their car, or a fellow Porsche driver. Good people naturally want to help others that they share something in common with.

Maybe I miss understood and yes When it comes to that CLUB I'm negative about that CLUB. You have to know about the 3 instances of being REJECTED by Club members that created my negativity.Because of those instances I will never join. I would stop to render help if I felt it was needed to any fellow camper no matter what they were pulling. I'm an old truck driver from the old school and that's just what we did, no matter what the company.
Dan B I will explain the reason's on our next meeting.

No need Roger, I've read about your reasons previously and am sorry they happened.

I have absolutely no doubt that you would stop to help another stranded camper. In fact, I suspect you would be underneath the hood helping fix the problem in no time!

Have a great day!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Dan. No need to be sorry, you didn't cause my distaste for the club, nor did anyone on these Forums that I can remember. It was strictly face to face meetings with some members and rejections by others that have caused my distaste. So I will now drop the subject. Hope to see you all down the road.

I'd stop for ANY Airstream, just to take a peak inside! I'm not a member of any club but I'm in love with these shinny trailers. I can't get enough of them. Happy trails whatever your colors are. Mine are silver!
