bfred, don't get me wrong, as far as the unit is built by AS, there's no reason to me not to make those units eligible to be as a part of the Club.
For the same reason Mandalay opens his club to the unit built by mandalay, refer to the link I posted before.
But if WBCCI is an open club, or kind of, I prefer go to Godd Sam, or Escapee. At lest they offer a more lot.
And regarding the letter sent to president unit, the idea of the IBT is to increase the membership.
And I don't know why Mandaly's owners would be more interested in being member of WBCCI than Trailer's owners,
That is just completly stupid.
I apllied to WBCCI because, may be it's stupid, of the history of the club, and what have been done, not for what it has to offer.

I will no longer allow my self-esteem to be a mere plaything of the rich and famous!

For too long I have allowed others to define for me what is cool, hip, in.

I am finally breaking free of the chains that bind me!

Hear ye! Hear ye!

I do not own an Airstream. (Did I just say that?) I own an Argosy!

Versailles, OH is my true Mecca. It has got to be a good 30 miles away from Jackson Center. The only things my beautiful Argosy has in common with Airstreams are the design, aluminum bodies, construction methods, cabinetry, appliances, hardware, windows, dealer network and a label that says "Argosy by Airstream."

I'm keeping the secret decoder ring.

Off Topic?

Hi, this may be off topic, but mentioned several times through out this post. And if the Moderators want to delete or relocate this I'm alright with their decission.

Most, if not all things that cost money, includeing memberships in clubs, have two main things in common; Features and Benifits. All I ever hear about the "WBCCI" is complaints about old members decissions and rules about displaying flags and wearing funny looking hats. I love my Airstream, but from what I have heard so far, I have no interest in the "WBCCI" what so ever and don't need the red numbers stuck on my trailer.

This is only my opinion, and not meant to offend any members of this club, that I know next to nothing about.

Go to Save Wally Web Site - Home. The same information is there that is in the messages. If you'd like to receive messages and news from SaveWally, just sign up as a member and ask to be added to the list. Leo does a good job at not overloading your email. He just sends out the most important and timely messages.

Question: Why would someone buy a Mandalay Bay with an Airstream badge at, what I would expect, a premium price to have that Airstream badge and then pay $70/year to be a member of WBCCI with all of its current problems when they could just buy the Mandalay Bay with what I'm sure is nicer cabinets than the old fashioned hickory Airstream cabinets and only have to pay $20/year to be a member of the Mandalay Bay owners club?

Seems to me it would be cheaper to buy the "real" Mandalay Bay and join the Mandalay Bay owners club than to buy the Mandalay Bay pretending to be a "fake" Airstream and join the WBCCI.

I would imagine it makes sense if you are ALREADY a WBCCI member who owns an Airstream motorhome and you can't or won't, for whatever reason, move into a trailer.

FWIW, I think if the MHs are made by the Airstream division of Thor and sold/service by Airstream dealers, fine...if not they shouldn't be badged as Airstreams.

...
So if there is a market strong enough to do this, why doesn't Thor ship the chasis into JC and let Airstream build an Airstream MOHO on it or at least send the shell in and let JC fill it? It would be kind of like they did the commercial division when they built to order.

But, why would they want to do that just for the sake of the club? If they can't make the MH division of Airstream pencil out now...why would they want to set-up what you propose as an accomodation just for club members? As a business person, it makes no sense to me...

But then what do I care, I'm just a lowly vintage trailer owner in the eyes of some MH & new trailer owners ~ I can't tell you how many times, some people have told me I will "trade up" from my "beginner Airstream" someday...when I can afford to or grow-up. I always state that money/age have absolutely nothing to do with my decison to own vintage...I could buy any trailer/MH I wanted, if I choose to. I chose NOT to ~

Because if you did that these folks who generally rank quite high in WBCCI would be beginners in any other club. That's right - they would just be ground troops like the rest of us. Part of this move is to protect the stature they have in WBCCI.

Shari,

I wonder what "those people" will say when we complete work on the 1954 Liner?

Hmmmm, no one has ever said this to me. Must be because they are too busy trying to get far away from me when I start talking about my beloved "Tube".
